You can get to the island by boat. The easiest way is from Kaivopuisto, just outside the Café Carusel. This place is just amazing! The island is a mix of Finnish nature and great sandbeatch. Take a walk around the island and grab a cup of coffee with a traditional Finnish woffles (lettu) , finish your day with sunbathing and... More

A nice Oasis near the city, with excellent views, but not for bad feets. Boat connection from the Karusell Cafe in the Kaivopuisto Park. Check the boating times, short season.

This is the nearby island where Helsinki people escape the heat and when we want relax, swim, and be close to the sea. You can take with your own picnic but there is restaurant as well. To the island you can get by boats from Kaivopuisto

This is a perfect place for a day trip with friends and/or family and worth the ferry trip from Helsinki (Ruoholahti or Kaivopuisto). Bring your own snacks or visit the restaurant and kiosk. For the latter two, check the opening hours since they might be closed outside high season. The beach is lovely and clean and it gives a great... More

Pihlajasaari is an island and a recreation park in Helsinki. It is popular with the locals and within easy ferrytrip from Kaivopuisto (leves from front of Restaurant Carusel and is a nice place to visit itself) or Ruoholahti harbour. There are white sandy beaches and rocks suitable for sunbathing or just enjoying the beautiful scenery. Restaurant on the island serves... More

This island is a must for Helsinki locals, I usually visit at least once every summer. You usually get more peace and quiet in the more remote areas such as the rocks facing the Helsinki waterfront. The sand beach is usually filled with people..

Summer paradise! Just a short boat trip ( 10 minutes ) from the Carousel- cafe you will arrive to a twin island summer oasis. The main island is mainly for families and sandy beaches for easy swim. There is also a basic summer restaurant in an old wooden villa at the western end. The smaller island has a camping place... More

You would never imagine such a beautiful and exotic island resting so near the shores of Helsinki. Bbq spots everywhere with wood, toilets, beaches, volleyball nets, docks for boats, trails, cafe, restaurant and even a nudist section. 6 euros return trip to paradise, see you there!
