If you have a few hours to kill in Helsinki and you want to get an understanding of the Finnish spirit then pay a visit to Marshal Mannerheim's museum home. The fascinating and complex personality of this man is captured by the many momentos and photographs he collected throughout his extensive travels. If you end up getting real interested in... More

You can hear the whole history of Manmerheim. You can see how he has decorated his home and what things were important for him.

I enjoyed the entire experience! Reasons: 1. Prompt reply: I booked the English-speaking guided tour for 2 persons via email on Tuesday. I received a confirmation the next day. Email address: groups@mannerheim-museo.fi 2. A very private and intimate tour: when my husband and I arrived at the museum for the guided tour on Saturday, it turned out that we were... More

The Finnish marshal Mannerheim lived in this home and it has been restaured (or rather, maintained) to give live glimpse to the 20th century peak moments (ups and downs included) of this northern nation. The guides are known for this solemn and fascinating tour. This is one of the only (if not THE only) place in Finland where you are... More

Try to get a guide. They are very knowledgeable and will open up the life of Mannerheim to the tiniest detail. Don't be afrid to ask. I've been twice: a different guide and it turnes into a unique experience.

We had a great tour at the museum that has been Mannerheim´s home for several years. Our guide was very nice and professional. You can get the guiding in several languages; we chose in swedish. This is not an ordinary museum tour, but a rather intimate visit and introduction to Mannerheim´s life and home. Well worth visiting.

We had a guide for two of us and had a great time walking around the house listening to stories about one of Finland's prominent presidents. Worth the visit! Actually going to go another time too...

Museum of Finnish (so far) only War Marchal. This is must for a person who is interested in WWII and Finnish history. Mannerheim was also Finnish president, as you might know. Mannerheim has long history, as he was serving for Russian tsarist army. He made expedition to China, for example. All in all he was very interesting person, museum is... More

A small home museum of the Finnsih Marshal is situated in a very beautiful part of Helsinki. This is an old villa, where marshal used to live. Not a big museum, but very much interesting details telling about this character and the Finnish history from the beginning of 1900 until the 2nd World War. The guidance was excellent!! A wonderful... More

As a student of history who wrote two term papers on the Russo-Finnish Wars while at McGill many years ago, I had to visit this place. The "museum" is in Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim's home and you can take a tour through it and see how he lived and learn about his life. Mannerheim towers over Finnish history, having led... More
