Lovely island zoo.

Be sure to take the ferry to the island as it gives you a great sea-side view of the city when traveling to the Zoo. The ferry leaves from the harbor and has its own ticked booth... read more

The zoo is on an island. In summer you can go by boat, but in November we went by bus which leaves from outside Helsinki railway station and takes about twenty five minutes. There is an excellent range of animals, focusing (unsurprisingly) on cold weather species. On a Tuesday in November we had the place to ourselves apart from a... More

We have visited Korkeasaari almost every time in Helsinki. Best time to visit is autumn or spring cause then you could see more animals and it is not so crowded. This time we saw so many lions five female and one male which was really wonderful and also tigers and a lot of birds, camels and so many others. Summer... More

Lots of animals from tropical to all kinds of bears, lions and etc. It's located near the sea and also has indoor facilities for reptile and other species. You have to walk a lot so get something warm to drink!

Be sure to take the ferry to the island as it gives you a great sea-side view of the city when traveling to the Zoo. The ferry leaves from the harbor and has its own ticked booth there. Combination tickets are available. The zoo itself is host to the many domestic animals of Finland and is a lovely place to... More

If you like to visit Zoos this is a very nice one. Animals are really well maintained and obviously well loved. The island it is located is also a nice place to get a little out of City centre into the sea air. One can arrive with a ferry or with public transport. Allow enough time for the visit.

We took one of the small boats that depart from the market square out to the zoo as it's on an island, trip took about 20 minutes or so. The ticket price was very reasonable and included the boat transfers. We spent a couple of hours here wandering around the well kept pathways. Some enclosures were larger than others and... More

I went having read the reviews - the complaints that there were no animals to see gave me the impression they would have a enough space to hide away if they didn't feel like socialising - I was wrong - honestly didn't think there were zoos like this anymore - big cats in a caged space and no field? enormous... I visited the zoo with his family in September 2015. The zoo is located on an island that is quite interesting. I liked that there is opportunity to rent a stroller for a child, the price of 3 euros. The only thing that did not like, its meal for the zoo visitors, i don't recommend to take a dinner there,... More

The island location means the zoo is a convenient size to see it all. We went there by bus, walking over the bridge, and back by boat to Helsinki Centre. We enjoyed seeing the peacocks and other birds wandering freely about. Also the Wisent were very interesting. The restaurant has very efficient self service meals at reasonable prices.
