I visited this Zoo two times. You can take a bus from the main railway station (you can also go there by ferry in summer season) and the bus stops just before the bridge to this amazing island. From there, across the bridge, you can only go by foot. Besides all those interesting animals you can also enjoy the island... More

So you catch a bus from the rail way station (rautatieasema - try pronounce that) and it takes you to the zoo. It was roughly a 15 minute bus trip to get there. When I arrived there I liked to think that it was Jurassic Park as the zoo is on it's own island. I went during the winter time... More

I've visited alot of zoos but this One makes you feel nice. I get the feeling that the animals are happy and well kept. and its nice that you get to see the feedings too. It in an island and it has nice nature and views to ocean. Peacocks and other birds walk around the island free. They have great... More

Located on an island, but very close to the city center, this zoo is a very nice place even before you meet the animals. Habitats are large, green and clean, animals look natural and cared for. Cat valley is amazing, especially amur tiger and lion children. Red panda is adorable and children love it. Even big birds like griphons have... More

I was somewhat shocked to find out that you have to take a ferry to get to the zoo! The island is a great place for the zoo, it is a nice size, and well kept. I was pleased that it seemed like the animals had decent places to live, in many zoos that is not the case. Right in... More

This was our second trip to the zoo. We got the ferry from the market square and enjoyed a pleasant crossing in the sunshine. There have been a lot of improvements since our last visit 4 years ago. However, many of the enclosures were either empty or in the process of being repaired. I would estimate that something like 30%... More

It is a good place to take children. I have been there during the winter, so most animals were quite shy. I usually do not like zoos, and feel sorry for the big animals having to live in captivity. But even in these circumstances, the animals in the Helsinki Zoo seemed very healthy and quite calm in the presence of... More

During the summer you can go to the Korkeasaari Island Zoo by boat. The return ticket by boat costs for adult 18 eur, children 4-17 years 9 eur and children under 4 years 0 eur. In winter you take the bus number 16 and go with that. It takes about 20 minutes. (Adult entrance fee is 12 eur, 4-17 y.o.... More

Nice zoo, with lots of animals that look quite happy, clean and well organized space. The zoo is located on an island overlooking the city. Perfect time of visit summer or spring, especially on sunny days. Not worth of visit during winter time. Because of the cold and the snow, most of the animals are inside their homes and you... More
