Buffet: The meat was really like jerky, the chicken was dead dry. The rest was directly taken from a plastic package. Two kids and one adult almost 40€. That is one beer, three buffets and water to drink. Do not go to this place.

If you visit during the summer months you can catch a ferry from Market Square to Korkeasaari island where the zoo is located. It is a pleasant ride, passing large Baltic cruise ships and takes about 20 minutes. The zoo is open until 8pm in the height of Summer. Entry is €18 by ferry or €12 by metro or bus.... More

Helsinki zoo is a relatively small zoo. We walked there and back from the centre of Helsinki which took about an hour and fifteen minutes and was generally pleasant along purpose built pathways. The zoo had some interesting exhibits and free face painting when we went which was great. I would recommend two hours or so to go round. Great... More

With just about everything else closed on Easter Sunday we decided on a visit to the zoo. Despite the chill we enjoyed the experience, although I was disappointed to find that senior concessions are only granted to Finnish seniors. Foreign pensioners, whether from another EU country or further afield, are expected to pay the full price. The zoo itself is... More

This was amazing! Have never visited a zoo in the northern hemisphere before this one, and I was pleased to see so many animals, even in the cold weather. Bonus that there wasn't very many people. Only downside was the primate cages were closed for renovation.

I went during April to the zoo, and it was empty nothing to see. They have to warn visitors, or to close it during winter. Its is very disappointing to treat tourists and visitor this way.

We visited the zoo in summer and so took the ferry which is great in itself. It was a beautiful sunny day so we enjoyed the sun by walking around all the zoo with an ice cream whilst enjoying seeing the sea, it was beautiful. Many large cats to be seen but they were all hiding and snoozing in the... More

Take the 16 bus from the central railway station, and it will take you right to the main gate of the zoo, quite a long walk around the place and a few hills in some places, so allow a good 3 hours for old or really fat people. Some amazing animals in here well suited to the climate in Finland,... More

There are so much free animals around in Finland, like birds and bears. I don't understand why someone has the need to be in a place where the animals are in prison, when they were supposed to be in nature.
