This is a true 'go too' place when the weather is good, wander around the island looking at the many old buildings, take afternoon tea and cake at the beautiful cafe or take a picnic and find a nice spot. A great place to spend an afternoon and just 15mins away from downtown.

Twenty minutes outside Helsinki via the #24 bus is the wonderful island of Seurasaari. On it is an open air museum showcasing many types of buildings from all over Finland and across several centuries. While you can't enter them, there are signs describing the place, period, and purpose of each to give you a better understanding. The museum is good... More

Went for the Easter bonfire, which was a great atmosphere. Unfortunately the weather changed suddenly and it snowed!

Be sure and see the old church with the sconces in the shape of hands. The manor houses are also very beautiful.

Seurasaari is the most attractive sight of nature in Helsinki. Just 20 minutes from centre of Helsinki. There is old typical wooden buildings you can visit in the Summer, you can swim (be aware the water can be cold!) or just take sun baths. There is also a closed nudist beach, but there is own parts for women and men.... More

if you are in Helsinki during summer Seurasaari might be ok. There are old buildings from around Finland. Views are nice.

Seurasaari open-air museum hosts original wooden buildings from different parts of Finland that have been dismantled and then re-erected as museum artifacts. Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation (bus nr 24) as there are very few parking places available. It will take ~ 15-20 minutes by bus from city center to Seurasaari. It is a tradition for city-dwellers in... More

You can reach Seurasaari by local buses that I heard operate frequently, so getting there isn't a hassle. Once you reach, at the entrance there is a ticket counter where you can purchase tickets (not expensive at all) and a very comprehensible map to walk around the island, at your own pace. This place is magical and transports you to... More

We took the bus to Seurasaari and despite the fact that our visit was off-peak, the place did not disappoint. We saw squirres, we saw old Finnish houses, we saw patches of snow. Enough to excite the parents and kids on our wee Helsinki walk. I can only imagine how pretty this place must be during other seasons. By the... More
