We had a really special day on the island. The houses are fascinating, and we walked there from the city centre via the beach, which was great. Enjoyed a stop at the cafe, in particular a huge slice of delicious berry cake!

Mock up buildings are mega to look around. Worth the small fee and that goes to the preservations. The area is gorgeous. You would normally get a bus but we needed the walk.

This place was amazing! We went in June and it was so peaceful and beautiful to walk around and go into all the different structures that had been moved from all over Finland to here. I never experienced an "open air museum", but that's exactly what this was.

This island is amazing. It has model houses from different parts of Finland ranging from different eras. Bit what's great is that you can run around the island (about 3 km loop) and never be too far from the natural elements. I spotted hares and a lot of wild birds here. Place is very quiet and peaceful. And the views... More

We've been walking around this open air museum for some three hours on a sunny, warm Monday morning, before the Asian tourist buses would arrive. You can freely enter the island and walk around the ethno park without any fee. However, to visit the houses inside, you need to pay the entrance fee of 8€ at the counter at the... More

I visited Fölisön during Helsinki Day when the entrance was free. (Of course you can walk around the island for free anytime you want, but if you want to access the buildings you need to pay the entrance fee.) I went on an enjoyable guided tour around some of the houses, and it was good except being a little too... More

It was hard for me to believe that such a quiet place is so close to a big city! It s definately worth visiting, seat by the seashore watch the squirrels running around and seeking for food and the seagulls flying all over. When I was there it was not crowded as it was a weekday. It was a bit... More

On a nice day this outdoor museum is a wonderful place to experience the wooden architecture from various parts of Finland. They have a beach and sauna , playgrounds for kids an outdoor cafe as well. You will likely see lots of swans and other bird life here.

We came to visit this place for two hours as part of our private cruise excursion at Helsinki, Finland. It is an open air museum of the traditional Finnish way of life. It is located on a beautiful green island about 20 minute drive from the center of Helsinki. I am highly recommended this place if you have extra time... More

A nice island easily reachable close to Helsinki center. Go there for a relaxing walk ti see the island and it's rocky shores, for a relaxing run or for a picnic. Can be crowded on Saturdays and public holidays.
