Another beautiful building in Helsinki

An impressive exterior on high above a picturesque square. The interior is mainly plain white, but has some beautiful decorations (the chandeliers are fabulous) and a lovely organ.

This building is outstanding and can be easily spotted from distance. Don't miss to stop by this place even if you have time only to take picture from outside. Take your time to admire the architecture of this >160 years old great structure.

Very nice external architecture. Inside is nice and plan and you can tell money wasn't spent on making the church fancy.

Historically it is relatively new as it was built in the nineteenth century. Its main value is its elegant structure and beauty. In the beginning I thought it was an orthodox church then found out... After seeing all of the Russian Orthodox churches and cathedrals in St. Petersburg, this Lutheran cathedral was like a breath of fresh air. Simple, unadorned, and lovely inside, with a nice view from the steps back out into Helsinki.

This is one of the signature places in Helsinki that is recognizable around the world. A great plaza which catches the afternoon light perfectly. Take pics!
