Nice place to sit on a bench and have a picnic or read a book. Make sure you take the time to walk down this strip on your way to see another sight

In midsummer, there was usually a performance happening. Always full of people enjoying themselves. Just a really nice place to relax and watch the world go by.

This little strip of green, bounded by or ads and designer shops makes for a very pleasant stroll towards the ferry terminals and katajanokka island

This is a very historic part of the city! It’s decorated with statues and landmarks – it’s also very close to the docks and the Presidents House! This strip connects the centre of Helsinki and is a walk to remember! I would suggest suitable footwear in the winter months though, had a few near misses in the snow! I wasn’t... More

Nice long walk in the middle of the shopping disctrict. Shame though about the cars, this should be a pedestrian area.

You should have a walk in the Esplanade (Esplanaadi in Finnish) at least once during the day and once during the night :-) You will certainly enjoy the views, the serenity, and the atmosphere. You can enjoy an ice cream from the numerous ice cream kiosks along the Esplanade or just have a seat and enjoy the wonderful views...

It was a nice place to stroll after dinner. Close to great shopping and restaurants and cafes. We enjoyed sitting on a bench and people watching. Very neat and clean with pretty greenery.

We were here in December so the Esplanade was not in its glory but it was lovely all the same. I was a little surprised at how short it is - only about 700m - but it leads you from one end of town to the other nicely. I'd love to see it in the summer some time.
