A great place to wander, always something going on ( in the summer at least). Loved the way that the locals were enjoying themselves.

Is a perfect place to try local food, which for sure is overpriced as well. You can try there a salmon fish which I will highly recommended. As well you can boy there some souvenirs.

Esplanadi (or "Espa" as the locals know it) is a park in between two one-way streets that cuts across the centre of Helsinki from Kauppatori (the Market Place) in the East to Svenska Teatern (the Swedish Theatre) in the West. It's a very pleasant (if not exactly remarkable) park with statues and lots of areas for picnics. There's also various... More

You can go from the Harbor Market up or the Stockmann Department Store down, but this is the summer stroll you will want to take in Helsinki. It is child friendly (we had our grandaughter in a stroller) or perfect for couples who want a bit of urban anonymity. If shopping is your thing, you can start at Stockmanns and... More

If going to Market Square and the markets, or going on a canal boat ride, one is almost certain to have seen this park. I had walked past a couple of times but have now taken the time to investigate further. It is a lovely part of Helsinki for a stroll on a day like today - a very pleasant... More

A very lovely and relaxing place for an afternoon stroll. We stumbled upon a rocking musical performance at the park, and had fun taking pictures at the various statues all about. Then we capped the day off with dinner of some real Finnish street food (reindeer meat, potatoes, anchovies) at the open market. Fun times!

The Esplanadi is a joy to walk down, and in summer there are all sorts of musical performances from time to time. There are living statues and it is a lovely way to stroll down to the harbour.

Walking around the Esplanade, one cannot help but notice how fresh and clean the air is - take in a few deep breaths and enjoy the smell of clean unpolluted air (tainted with a hint of fresh fish!). Within the area of the Esplanade, there is a local market area from where all sorts of fresh local food and non-food... More

Pretty inner city park with food stands, restaurants and a band shell. Lots of people watching at its best!
