Bring some food, bring something to sit on, find a spot across the fortress then relax in the sun and listen to the waves!

Super good day. just 25 min with ferry from helsinki city. € 7 for the boat bus return ticket. a lot to see. great views, many cafes and restaurant. museums with entry fees. The weather was so nice that we did not want to visit the museums.

I just wandered around the island for a few hours and most enjoyed myself. The museums opened a bit too late in the day for my plans, but there was more than enough to wander around without them. I'd recommend taking a torch with you, as a few of the passage are pitch black but fascinating. Also, the ferry to... More

We took the ferry (via the JT line) over to the Island. The trip took about 15 minutes each way. First off, I would highly recommend picking up some lunch at the market in the square next to the harbor before heading over to the island. Once we got to the island it was a beautiful surprise. The views to/from... More

+ Whether you walk around visiting shops and museums, or just sit on a bench, you will enjoy yourself! - There is no place to get cash, so make sure you have a debit card that works in Finland or have enough cash!

The smooth ferry ride is a mere 15 minutes to the island and you should wear comfortable shoes because of the cobblestones and broken paving. The nice old buildings, courtyards and canons are interesting to see and I didn't bother with any of the museums.

As a seasoned traveler, I am not easily impressed. The Fortress of Suomenlinna is one of those places so advertised in Helsinki that I expected to find much more that it actually is. Well, it's worth a visit, of course, if you are in Helsinki! But this is not the kind of place that should draw tourists on its own.... More

This is a good way to spend a couple of hours and was quiet interesting but some places were closed and thee is not a lot to see. The ferry ride using the public transport card meant here was no extra charge to get there and gave a good sight of Helsinki from the water.

A small ferry ride to the fortress. I attended a large group dinner but smaller parties also dining. Food excellent and service brilliant. Unique surroundings - expensive but everywhere is in helsinki
