I like the historical atmosphere of the place and several of the museums were good, especially Vesikko. It is crowded in august, but apart from that a sure thing.

Lovely place to spend your day! There is a lot to see, the Nature is beautiful, the views are awesome... I walked around with no routes in mind, just kept walking and walking and getting amazed with all the beauty around. I was luck, when I was there had a wedding going on, so got the chance to see the... More

Located vere near the center of Helsinki, this place is easy to visit. However, it can be a bit windy as it is in an island, so dress up warmly. You can walk around, go inside to some of the old buildings or enjoy snacks at small cafes.

The island and the fortress are a nice day trip in Helsinki. We had a day pass on public transportation and used it to get to the island. There are some nice coastal beaches and rocks to hang out on. Wandering inside the fortress walls was not extensive, but it provided some interesting geography and gave you a feel of... More

Simply wonderful - an island that takes an hour to walk around, an inexpensive 15 min ferry ride from the centre of the city. Plenty to see. Take a picnic.

A little island with a world heritage site on it. Make sure you walk around more than just the castle, museum, beach and cannons. Walk around. The residential place is a lovely place to walk as well. A good way to spend an afternoon and the enjoy the scenic ferry ride too.

When visiting the port in Helsinki I recommend you should also take the short 15 minute ferry ride over to the Fortress of Suomenlinna. There are ferries going at regular times during the warmer seasons. Once there you should allow, weather permitting, half a day to really appreciate the entire fortress, the history and the location. A good comfortable pair... More

This is a stunningly beautiful fortified island right next to the capital city, and a part of Helsinki. It's really easy to reach by ferry in 20 minutes. The Swedish Castle that dominates the island was built in the mid 18th century, and remains one of the best sights for cultural and recreational use. It's also listed as a UNESCO... More
