I just loved this place! For the single ticket price you can visit Suomenlinna and have a half day there. If you pack your swimming dress you can spend the whole day there. The shops and restaurants are lovely there, and also if you want to there is a Hostel there, to spend the night here :) The view is... More

Suomenlinna sells itself on a lot of hype. That said the views are tremendous and the walk is enjoyable but it is a long way around especially in the heat. A lot of museums and cafes!

We took the ferry across from the city and spent half a day here, which was enjoyable and just about enough time for us. Once there, you can walk around freely to explore the site and take in the views or you can pay to access museums and guided tours. Half a day was enough for us, but If you... More

My friend told me about this place and I didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be really awesome and I actually went back again next day just to hang around and explore the place some more. Suomenlinna Sveaborg is one of the strongest sea fortresses in Europe and is also a World Heritage site. Follow the main... More

We enjoyed the ferry trip, lunch at the Suomenlinna Brewery, the fact there was information/maps (and toilets) readily available, getting away from the city, having a walk with some great views.

Had a day trip here, and the kids loved running around and exploring the tunnels. The glass and ceramics works were closed (and looked like they had been for a while) but a sunny day makes this a good trip. Don't miss Kings Gate.

Hop on a ferry for 15 mins from the harbour in Helsinki and you get to this. Part ex-fortress, part home to 800 people, part nature spot, part observatory for all the shipping. Big range of sights to amble around in a small area. And some of the most picturesque cafes you could hope to find. Very relaxing.

It is a great place when is sunny. There is a lot to do. We walked around, then sit in the sun and have some break. The view is amazing. We love it. There is also a beach so you can swim. There are 2 nice cafes, one is in boat style:) the 2nd is next to toys museum. BTW.... More

Suomenlinna is ex-military island near to Helsinki. During summer is nice place to visit and see different part of Helsinki. the easiest way to get to the Suomenlinna is to take a ferry from Kauppatori (market place). If you choose HSL ferry, you can travel with your day ticket (or turist dicket) without extra fee. The rare attraction in Suomenlinna... More

It took 26 years before I finally went to Suomenlinna fortress. Now I got to say it's one of the must-do things for people visiting Helsinki. Was funny to see a shipyard hidden in a historic sight. The ferry to Suomenlinna is rather cheap and also the schedules are good. It takes few hours to walk through the island.
