Took a fabulous 3 hour sail boat tour aboard s/y Linden, a replica three m mast archipelago schooner from Mariehamn. Great boat and did real sailing through the straits. Crew was fun and helpful and the salmon soup is renowned and included I the ticket price. Can't remember when a sightseeing cruise would have been more relaxing!

We were only in Helsinki for part of a day during our cruise, and had decided ahead of time to visit Kauppatori on our own, and take the ferry from there to Suomenlinna Fortress, vice purchase any of the cruise line's excursions. (The walk from the cruise port was maybe a half-hour and easy with two children, passing cathedrals and... More

Not to be missed. Lovely cluster of market stalls selling the most wonderful array of fruit and vegetables that were so fresh and displayed attractively. Lots of stands selling home made food being cooked in front of you. Home made wares also widely available which were lovely. There's a second market in the senate square which has a different feel... I visited on a nice sunny day and had a great time at these authentic feeling markets. The location right on the water is lovely and you can find anything from food and produce right through to souvenirs and general flea market type of goods. Well worth an hour or two.

Harborside Market is a description, not the name of the market or the square - the attraction is next to the harbour. TA refuse to change the name of the attraction back to the correct "Kauppatori" which means "Market Square" in Finnish. I reviewed the square last year from a night-time perspective - I review again from a later visit,... More

If you want to learn what the locals' daily life looks like, I would recommend this open air market. The Market Square (Kauppatori in Finnish) is the most popular market in the city and is easily accessible by public transportation, bicycle or by foot. You can't miss the market, just look for the brightly colored tent tops. We saw many... More

The best place to meet finish people and enjoy a traditional dish from Finland, it was cheap and really tasty!!! The best for me, was the reindeer meat! I've never could imagine that I would eat this!

Like other reviews, this place is great for cheaper souvenirs and great street food (seafood). You can get Helsinki/Finland t-shirt 3 for 30 Euros or 25 Euros (depends). This is also where you can get your tickets for the ferry rides that will take you a tour of around Helsinki.
