I love wandering around markets in new cities and Helsinki is no exception. Having been to the smaller market by the ferry terminals, I was eager to check out this larger establishment. Unfortunately the market was nothing like what I had imaged. The ground floor was fresh produce mainly with a couple of cheese and ham stalls. The upper level... More

I always love to go to the local markets when visiting a new city. It is a great way to sample some of the local foods. This market was smaller than expected but still had a wide array of local foods and Crafts. My friend and I tried smoked reindeer and had moose soup for lunch. Both were delicious. It... More

Go and have a look in the hall at the tiny stalls offering all kinds of super fresh, mostly organic delights. It looks pretty boring from the outside but ot so once you are in. And, sometimes there is a flea market in the square outside. Close to town on the #6 tram

We visited this lovely market in July & had a great experience. Tasted some local produce & bought several souvenirs, including a beautiful silver bracelet for our daughter. Wish we had bought a ring & earrings to match. Been searching on line for the distributor to no avail. Can anyone help?

Read from trip advisor that this is a 'must-see' place in Helsinki. Took the metro to Hakaniemi station and walked across the street to arrive at the market square. I expected the market to be as big as Queen Victoria market in Melbourne or Salamanca market in Hobart but to my disappointment, it was a 2 storey small market selling... More

This was a lovely way to get a little flavor of Helsinki. There were lots of local wares for sale, as well as some local foods. We purchased some small gifts to take home, and sampled some local seafood. There are also boats offering sightseeing tours from the docks. The historical section is close by, within walking distance.

The market square has much variety and many tasty local delicacies on offer. Lots of authentic options and very fresh quality, worth a few hours stroll. Easy tram ride from the ferry port.

Busy market which seemed to be full of locals as well as tourists. Beautiful fresh produce for sale as well as typical Finnish goods and quite a lot of cheap souvenirs. Lots of food stalls serving very good food.

We thought this area was fun. It was a big square filled with pavilions selling food, crafts and souvenirs. Most of the items and food was more reasonably priced that we found in some other areas. Eateries have giant sauté pans filled with fish, vegetables and other foods. Ferries leave for Sumolena from here.
