This is an open air market of food and local vendors (not the expensive Louis Vuitton stores you find closer to the center of town). Even if you don't buy anything, it's fun to walk around and look.

You will have to go through the market square if you walk to the Uspenski Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali) from the Senate Square (Senaatintori). Many souvenir shops and food stalls. Really should try some local food such as reindeer meat balls, fried fishes, ... etc. You will have a chance to taste the food before making up your mind of what... More

Trying to make few things clear... Many people seem to have reviewed Kauppatori, not Hakaniemen tori. Kauppatori located at the end of Esplanade and Hakaniemen tori few metro stops off downtown. Hakaniemen tori is traditionaly more working class market and not so full of tourist stuff as Kauppatori. Personally i recommend to go here grab a cup of coffee, sit... More

This is a must visit in summer if you like berries. Strawberries, blue berries and rasberries all fresh and incredible cheap. We visited every day for supplies!

We found nice T shirts at a reasonable price. It is nice to see the food stalls with the local cooking and take in the smells. We were on a cruise so did not want to eat, already doing that too much! But nice to see the stalls cooking fish and other dishes. Lots of fruit as well and handy... More

Where else can you order reindeer balls :-) !!! We actually didn't and had fish which was both inexpensive and delicious. The local vendors are too busy to be the least bit pushy and this open air market is a delight to stroll through. I know that this is officially an "attraction" review but it could just as easily be... More

Every morning they set up shop and every afternoon take it down. As we left at 4:30 am for the airport, many vendors had already started construction. It is amazing what they do every day. The college girls running the shops were delightful. The food was excellent. The gifts were the best place to shop in Helsinki. Overall, I wish... More

Here in this market place where you can find the best fresh food in Helsinki to a lower price than in the downtown. It is little aside from the main center but worth a visit. Easy to access with a tram for example. A lot of small shops with all kind of stuff in 2 floors. You have also a... More

A rather small place with a line of tents with a variety items ranging from local craft, souvenirs to food. One has to pass through it if one arrives by cruise ferry. A lot depends on the weather. Though we were there in June, it was quite windy, chilly and rainy. The tents billowed out quite making things difficult both for... More
