Try the fish

Vibrant outdoor market with many goodies to buy. The food's aroma filled the air. Fish was good and tasty, a little pricey like everything else. It's Europe.

We visited 10 countries on this trip around the Baltic and Scandanavia and we Loved this harbour-front market. We shared a great sausage and potatoe lunch and then we wandered around. Our big find was silver jewelery. It was high quality (available with amber plus other stones), great, simple design and realy well priced. All the people we dealt with... More

There are lots of food stalls that spring up on weekends, forgot if it was Saturday or Sunday. Loved the Salmon Soup and Bread. Gets pretty crowded and hard to find a seat sometimes. But you can eat outside , if you are careful of the sea gulls. Was there on Summer, so I guess this market may depend on... More

they have several tents with local food, from fruits and vegetable to fried salmon. Prices are low compared to restaurants nearby and if you go at the end of the day (4pm or so) you will enjoy buy 1 get 2 promotions since they are clearing stock.

While Kauppatori has a lot of finger food and tourist mishmash, Hakaniemiemi Market Square is geared more towards locals. If the weather is bad there may be only a few sellers on the square. Easy access from the centre: just two metro stops away from the railway station.

See market place and have cup of coffee in a tent. On saturdays more people and nice athmosphere. Notice that on first Sunday every month so called "Maalaismarkkinat" that includes all kind of food from countryside and things to bring home if visiting Finland as a turist. See the old "Halli" and have soup and bread or lunch inside.

On the boards of the harbour. Typical mix of authentic food and fish in particular, and touristy stalls wit kitch but also handicraft oroducts, such as wollen jumpers and reindeer skins. Enjoy the sea air!
