Best market hall in Helsinki

Of the two market halls in Helsinki this is the choice for genuine atmosphere with well represented authentic local food. Price level is a bit lower than in the Vanha Kauppahalli.

Great outside market. Numerous tents set up full of all sorts of goods. Plenty of fresh food as well as other wares. I found a few good souvenirs here including some scarves. An easy walk through if you are down by the harbor or heading for Old Market Hall. Worth a bit of time.

My favorite stall, and there are many to really enjoy, is the fish stall at far left corner, where they display salmon in more preparations than you can imagine. The cheese stall also has great selection.

Markets such as this offer good fare to buy and great photo opportunities. This market is as good as many others but nothing special

The Hakaniemi market square (Hakaniemen tori) has kept a lot of its authenticity: it still serves as a place to buy your fresh produce from farms nearby, as well as wild berries and mushrooms, even if the selection is smaller each year. It's also famous for its cafes or rather tents that sell coffee. The coffee is nothing special, but... More

we wanted to explore the market to get snacks for the few days when we explored the city and was recommended to stop by this. They had many unique fruits that we do not usually see in the western hemisphere and I loved every single one! The workers are friendly and you are able to negotiate for the amount of... More

This is the market where the locals go to buys fresh fish, meat, bread etc. It is smaller than the main market square. You wont't find tourists at all. There are nice placed inside to have coffee, snack of lunch. Salmon or trout sandwich is the best in town! Very easy to reach by metro, tram or bus.
