If you are in Helsinki looking for a green escape this park is a good option. You can get there by public transport by getting on a train, getting off at Espoo and then catching a bus. Don't worry you'll see people probably doing the same. It's wonderful nature, and there are many marked hikes of several durations you can... More

Visited Nuuksio with family. Used public transportation from Helsinki main train station to Nuuksio. First train Espoonkeskus and then bus 85A to Kattila. Easy connection. It took us 1hour from Helsinki to reach Nuuksio. Our little daughter walked with us, ~3km from Kattila to Haukkalampi. It took us about 2 hours. Did not pay attention to time. There was literally... We visited Nuuksio National park and Haltia centre. We used the connection trail back and forth to Haukkalampi and also Punarinta -trail (10 km). The connection trail was very good and easy to walk with nordic walking sticks. IT took us over an hour to walk only 4,6 km because of big up and downhills. The view in Haukkalampi is... More

Just hop to a train and change to a bus and you'll find yourself in the middle of a deep forrest in less than an hour's travel. Clean air and silence. Love it.

This is a great national park right outside of Helsinki. By car half an hour drive and you will find vast outdoors with forests, ponds and swamps. Nature here is amazing, well marked trails and many places to stop at. Some routes have info signs on animals, plants etc. My favorite place outside of Helsinki to discover real Finnish nature!

Great hiking trails, even for super young kids. Picked blueberries at the height of the season, which kids always enjoy!

We choose a route that didn't look to challenging and was supposed to be 7km. It turned out to be quit challenging and about 1km longer, but very beautiful, indeed a nice walk.

After a fairly short train and bus ride we were soon at the visitor information centre (very easy to spot if coming on bus 85, big brown funky looking building). Grabbing a map we were shortly following an easy path towards the lakes. At this time of year the paths were a bit icy, making it slippery and having to... More

The scenery is amazing! Spent a weekend in the park and it was a great escape into nature. Hope to make it back someday. We went ice fishing and snowshoeing. We also enjoyed a Finnish sauna and Viking bath! We stayed at the Green Window and they organized all the activities. The food was amazing.

This is an excellent place to get acquainted with the forests in Southern Finland. The park is relatively easy to reach with public transportation from Helsinki (requires changing from train or bus to a bus in Espoo) and very easy to get to by car. The paths in the area are very good. However, for a bit less touristy experience... More
