Excellent place just about 30-40minutes from Helsinki city central. Need to take a bus front of kiasma or train to Leppävaara and continue by bus. Most crowded place is the Haukkalampi area. If you want to have more peaceful area, choose southern area. Plan your trip from Siikajärvi up direction north.

Lovely large national park about an hour drive from Helsinki , we spent couple of hours there . Beautiful lake , lovely huts , tall tress. wild berries, really very refreshing. We had a lovely picnic and enjoyed our outing.

If you fancy something close to nature, perhaps a hike here would be good. We stopped by the Haltia for information, and they recommended us to take the red trail 2.4km which starts at Haukkalampi. Not a very difficult trail, probably takes about 3 hours of leisure walking and including a picnic stop over. Nice scenery of lakes and forested... More

To be honest, it was my first time being to a place like this and I really enjoyed it. We took the yellow route, which was kinda challenging (it had a little bit of climbing and tree roots here and there) but nothing really difficult. The scenery was also beautiful, with all the trees and lakes and the weather was... More

What is better than to go out in nature. A nice national park. A fairly untouched nature with many variations. There are different routes to go from aprox.1,5 km to 7 km. A quite easy terrain. There are pic nic places to have a break up. I myself have been and camp in Nuuksio and it is a nice experience.... More

Nuuksio National Park is so close to Helsinki whilst we were there the various berries came into season and mushrooms abound. This is a place where the locals go and pick these fruits of the forest. Plenty of walking trails.

We went to Nuuksio National Park as a day trip from Helsinki, taking the train to Espoo and then the 85 bus to the park. We got off at the last stop on the bus from where you can walk south and pick up the bus again at a number of points. The first part of the walk was wonderful... More

Whenever I mention Finland to a friend, forests and lakes appear before their eyes... along with snow and dark nights. However, often people stay in Helsinki and do not see this. Nuuksio is the answer. Though the area would be interesting in winter, summer would be best. It is wonderful for a short visit to get a taster of Finnish... More
