Unforgettable family ski holiday!

Great snow, incredible views, beautiful tree-lined runs. Ruka village was great too, with plenty of thinks to do after skiing!

Ruka is such a beautiful place. We first visited Jan 2015 and worried so much about going as there are few reviews but on arrival we fell in love hence returning! It is such a pretty place with so much to do whilst visiting. If you want Skiing you've got it and if your're a non skiers like me it... More

We spent a day here as part of a fabulous week long trip with Exodus. This may be nice if one wants to do down hill ski but other than that this place did not do anything for me. Very modern buildings, a contemporary ski resort. Some shops but few nice ones. The place was also pretty much deserted which... More

Small resort, very quiet on the slopes, I'm sure because it's so cold in January. Expect -20 most days. However, it's wonderful. Runs are really well groomed, staff throughout are friendly and helpful, no lift queues. Only down side is some runs quite short, but plenty for beginners and intermediates. Rental shop is also good. Resort is easy to find... More

Went Jan 2016 with a group of 8 beginner-intermediate skiers and snowboarders and there were plethora of slopes to choose from, easy to begrudge with up to more challenging ones as we got better. There are pke and of other things to do besides skiing - it is a beautiful area to explore. We stayed at the Maston Aitio cabins,... More

It is cold, snowy and picturesque. The town has a supermarket which stocks all basics including a reasonable amount of vegetables , fruit and herbs. It is housed in a building which also has Alko, the only shop to sell wine and spirits. Prices are good here eg. a bottle of wine can be bought for less than 10 euros... More

This was the first time my daughter or myself had ever had a pair of skis on our feet, my husband had been once at 13 and I never imagined we would all be skiing from the top of the mountain by ourselves within 5 days (albeit slowly) thanks to our instructor... Janni (apologies if I have spelt that wrong).... More

A lovely village with all you need to have a great winter activity holiday. Temperatures reached -28 while we where there but it would not deter us from returning, lovely people and great atmosphere and tons to do. May be a little too quiet for the seasoned professional but a great place to learn and improve your skiing. Will be... More

Having recently returned from Ruka I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Finland looks stunning, transfer from the airport was 25mins..not like 2 hours in france! You are guaranteed snow and when you fancy something different there are plenty of other activities. It is not the biggest resort by any means and for young groups you may desire a bit more 'pulse'... More

Finland, Ruka resort is AMAZING! We had tons and tons of snow. The prices were cheaper than France (I've arranged loads of ski hols and prices were excellent). The lessons were shorter, but the spoken English was great and ratios fab. The atmosphere was relaxed and no crowds (5 minute queues were as bad as it got). The runs have... More
