Having a trip with the icebreaker and floating in the middle of the North Sea is quite an unique experience, which you can not have in the other place.

This excursion was one of the best I've had. You must try the reindeer soup, yum. Floating in the Baltic Sea is a once in a life time experience. Well worth the price of the 4 hour trip out on the frozen sea.

Well organized experience of icebreaking on the Baltic sea. The tour take about four hours, including sailing out to the sea, stopping for a dip in the ice cokd water, and return to the port. The ship is from the sixties, reasonably well kept. We had the fortune to be there on a beautiful day, so we could enjoy the... More

We were back fm Finland last week trying our luck to see the Northern Light. Regretably did not get to see it. However we get to experience a MUST TRY adventure in Kemi on board the Sampoo Ice Breaker. It was an unforgetable and wonderful experience, especially wearing the floating suit and going into the icy water for a floating... More

This is one of the greatets adventures that I ever made. It's funny to think that you will be part of a sea cruize during the Finnish winter. The atmosfere in the Sampo was great, amazing food! All the staff strives to do the best to give you a great time. When they stop in the midle of the cruize... More

The team takes you around various parts of the ship , gives ample explanations and helps you to take the dip in the Baltic frozen waters , it`s nice and time goes by quickly , it`s a pity though that the so called "lunch" it`s only a -albeit good one -salmon soup ...

If you visit Lapland never miss this one! We booked via their website and they sent us all the information. At first we thought we would get there with the train from Rovaniemi to Kemi but luckily one week before the trip we decided to book transportation from their website too. It is really recommended -they picked us up from... More

We board the sampo ice breaker at noon and we started sailing off breaking the snowy icy lake. First we are served the salmon soup with bread for lunch. Then we are given a say 10-15 mins guided tour of the ship which includes the engine room and the captain's room. According to guide the ship still uses the 60... More

this seasonal activity is the one you can't miss if you pay a visit in finland in winter. i found Sampo Icebreaker's quite a fair company. the website stated if the trip cancelled, the customers will get the refund. i did join the icebreaker cruise in hokkaido some years ago, yet, the ice melted right before we arrived hokkaido. yet,... While out on the Sampo the power went out literally, the crew kept their chins up and still served the meal, which was excellent, and after about 90 minutes they got things going again. It made the trip all that much more exciting! Standing on the bow while crushing ice is exhilarating, and then taking a dunk in the dry... More
