It is what you would expect, lots of stores and restaurants. It's Gothenburg's version of Oxford street or champ elysees. We were only there during the night, and ended up going to Hard Rock Cafe.

Good selection of bars and shops, but nothing out of the ordinary. I guess it's one of the main streets of Gothenburg and, to be fair, I only ever saw it in the dark. It seems to be a hub for trams and buses, and has a theatre, state library and concert hall at the top end.
It's a long, clean, wide avenue with the usual shops and cafes. It is easy walking for pedestrians but open to the elements so no protection in bad weather. I wouldn't say there is anything special here but it is a place to have a browse and a coffee.
Although this is an important part of Gothenburg. I would suggest that you just take a walk here and look at the surroundings. But I think it´s highly overrated when it comes to food, coffee and drinks.
Very nice street in the center of gothenburg full of cafe´s, resturants and aof course a lot of stores.
Nice area of town, good for people watching, exploring stored and enjoying some delicious restaurants.
Reminded me of a small Champs Elysses Blv with lots of shops and cafes and restaurants. The shops closed way too often though because as a tourist you would like to check the shops in the evening.
I've been down Avenyn many times, and have visited many of the stores, cafes and restaurants along the way. Go to the farthest end and visit the art museum, check out the Saluhall (food court) and don't forget the many shops both on the street, and on the many smaller cross streets. For a special experience come during the Christmas...

avenyn is in the middle of the city sentru, and it's a great starting spot whether it's for sightseeing, barsounds or whatever. great parks and great views. If your hotel is close to this you can't complain about location ;) great food there and some awesome nightclubs !
Walking up and down Avenyn on a warm summer night is just great. Lots of people out on the city. Lots of restaurants, cafes and shops. Bring a coffee and sit down at the steps of the museum of art at the end of Avenyn, and just look at the city life. Great.
