It is so easy to visit this part of Gothenburg and very cheap. You just take the tram and next, a ferry to one of the islands. Each island has its own beauty. Most of them have sand beaches and cafés. The perfect option if you visit Gothenburg during April-September when the weather is milder.

Took tram 11 all the way to peninsula (saltholmen) from Central Gothenburg, about 20 mins, you can use same ticket as tram for trip to Island if time is still left on your ticket, so this makes a well-priced as well as a beautiful outing. Regular & frequent boats to Islands, it threads its way through the little southern archipelago.... More

Shows off the shoreline. The ferry we used was modern and well staffed. Moderately priced. Wonderful experience.

We went for a day trip to these group of islands. We took the ferry to Brännö and walked across the island to catch the ferry on the other side to go back to Göteborg. It was a lovely day. I would recommend going here to everyone who is in Göteborg for a couple of days.

I came to Gothenburg for a city break with a difference. My friend and I bought a card for city public transport which lasted for 72 hours, this also included ferries! We caught a ferry out to Branno from Saltholmen, which only took about 20 minutes. The island was very peaceful (no cars allowed!) with lovely scenery, we walked over... More

I am from the Caribbean, and one of my favorite pastimes when home is to go down the islands, Trinidad. Now residing in Gothenberg, i am delighted to do a similar activity here, as it is a great way to spend a day, sailing to the island, outdoor cooking with friends and enjoying the wonderful Swedish summer!

Go out and spend a few nights on some of the islands or just take a boatride to see one of Swedens best archipelagos (and the only thing I like about Gothenburg). It is nothing short of amazing and very beautiful. Especially for nature lovers.

Worth the trip if you stay a couple of days or more in Goteborg. You can take the public transports to get there and in go from an island to another. In summer you can even swim!

The island of Styrsö has a network of beautifully maintained and well marked footpaths, perfect for easy hiking through varied terrain including woodlands, over glacial boulders, meadows, beaches, etc. Bring a picnic and enjoy the vistas of the ocean, the islands, and the Swedish flags flapping in the sunshine. There are not many restaurant options on Styrsö, but you can... More
