For almost 800 years people have been coming to worship and pray at Linköping Cathedral. Work on the Cathedral was started in 1230, with the main building works being completed in 1520. The belfry and the west façade were added in 1885. Linköping Cathedral is the most impressive and expensive Swedish church building of the Middle Ages. Within the church you can see evidence of almost 800 years in which master craftsmen have expressed their faith in wood and stone

This old church is very beautiful. Although it is located in the heart of town it still doesn't look out of place. I recommend a visit as the door are always open.

We actually entered the cathedral while a mass was going. Apparently it was fine for tourists to go around while they were serving their god, which was pretty cool. There's quite a bit of detail in the church walls and floor, so we took some time to complete our tour. You can have a coffee there as well and buy... More

I cannot remember the last time I darkened the threshold of a church but I am glad I went inside this one (and didn't get struck down by lightning). I even got to attend part of a Sunday service. The cathedral is simply beautiful and a must-see in Linkoping

This is an excellent example of mediaeval church architecture. It is grand and the atmosphere is solemn and you can feel the wings of time here! It has very many skilful works of art, from the middle ages to recently-made. I have been a visitor to the cathedral regularly for ten years now, but I still find new artefacts, nooks... More
