This old town is about a couple of miles from center city. It is very nice and well kept. You can easily tour it in one hour. I understand that in the summertime they have open air cafés and restaurant, which are closed during the rest of the year.

The kids have a great time petting the animals or playing in the park. Some stores that are open in summer. Visiting the animals is great in the winter as you can go right inside the cages and pet them. In the summer they're locked up in the outdoor cages. Not much to do for adults though.
Easy to get to, the bus stops right outside. Have been to a family winter Sunday, with lots of free activities for kids and a great atmosphere. It's still ok to go to in winter, being an open air museum, but there are also lots more activities open in summer. The café at Gamla is very nice too.

Nice presentation of early town with some lovely shops. The children's' toy shop is wonderful and has a great selection of books, too. Beautiful walks all throughout and leading to park and horse camp behind Gamla Linkoping.
Get to know how a Swedish town looked like one hundred years back. Believe it or not, my grandfather walked these streets when he was young. Everything is the real thing and the houses are rescued from being torn down and they are just moved to form this old town.
Worth a visit if you happen to be in Linköping, especially when you have kids around. Very classic houses around and it is very nice to explore how Swedish in 1900 used to live
It is definitely a must, when you are visiting Linköping! Swedes have collected old building from all over Linköping and presented in a very interesting way showing the history of the countryside with farm animals. You can see how people in early 1900 used to live, and what did they do and what kind of interests did they have. All...

It's like any other pioneer village you've ever been to...just the Swedish version. They actually have businesses operating out of some of the heritage buildings so you can buy flowers or handmade gifts. Everyone was very friendly. The buildings are bright and colorful. There are pretty little gardens here and there growing Heirloom varieties of flowers and herbs. We didn't...
