We attended a concert and recital of Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. The performance was excellent the Opera House is small when compared to La Scala or Covent Garden but extravagantly decorated. The chandelier was stunning and ceiling illustrations unusual. The entrance hall and rooms above are worth a visit as is the downstairs cafe/ piano bar

My wife surprised me with a night at the Opera. We started with an extremely good dinner in "Bakfickan" on the back side of the Opera building. It is a small restaurant that accepts no bookings and you might have to wait awhile but the fish casserole I had was amazing. It is small and cosy and perfect for a... More

I love opera but swedish scene is really unpredictable so you can see the best and the worst on the same stage. however the orchestra is really good and can rescue bad vocal and play. the building is really nice its self and the view from the terrace is great.

I thought that the pre-performance information session for children was very well done. It was a participative session of about 30 minutes and the children, and those adults who were also there, were encouraged to take part in some fun physical activities that explained the ballet for them. The ballet itself was based on Christmas cameos and danced to The... More

If you sit on a bench on the Orebro bridge or the canal walk way opposite the Opera House before noon. You can hear the divas practicing their solos upstairs via the open windows.

Unfortunately the backstage tour listed in Stockholm card is available only on specific days and we chose one when it was not. Entrance to the building was grand, opulent and worthy of photography but disappointed not to be able to go backstage - check ahead if you want to do so.

I went with a friend and even though we got the farthest seats from the scenario, it was great and felt awesome. The atmosphere is incredible and the beauty of the place is amazing, there are a lot of details and decorations that makes the place a perfect blend between museum/ architecture sightseeing and a show.

Where else can you get pressed duck besides here and the Tour D'Argent in Paris? A beautiful 19th century setting matched with excellent food and service.
