We went on a guided tour, lead by Fabian. He was great, spoke excellent English and infused the tour with both historical information, cultural tidbits and a great sense of humor. The opera house is gorgeous, and I recommend anyone interested in culture to check it out.

The golden foyer is an excellent room for gathering and discussing about the theme of the opera, the acoustics were excellent and the tickets have a large price range to make it accessible to anyone. The only bad side is that there are no English subtitles. This is important for tourists who don't know Italian or Swedish, especially when the... More

Great building full of history. The details on it are incredible. Inside the acoustics are very good . The prices for the shows are high but worth it.

Perhaps the best way to see this beautiful opera house is during a performance, for opera fans this is a real treat and if you are not an opera fan, here is your chance for a very inexpensive taste, as the state subsidizes the opera and so prices are very very accessible, our front row seats were less than 100... We didn't have a chance to go inside as we stayed only for a day. Our tour with the bus began on the square in front of the opera house so we could see this beautiful building from outside. I'm always obsesed by doors so I never pass a beautiful door without taking a picture of it. And this place... More

The Opera House ("Operan") is situated in the heart of the City Centre and should be on every visitor's itinerary if time permits. There are regular performances (slightly less in the Summer Months) and guided tours in English are strongly recommended. We have just seen the ballet "Raymonda" which was superb, the sets magnificent, the orchestra brilliant, the performers outstanding.... More

We were able to purchase tickets for Carmen the afternoon of the evening performance. The box office is open at 12:00 noon and we got good seats for $35.00 each. The opera house is gorgeous, as is to be expected. Strong performances. The set was pretty minimal and the production was "modern". This is not my favorite version, but hey,... More
