Probably better during the summer... a lot of nightspots to hang out in, but there are better alternatives. During the day its rather bland.

We rented an apartment in Sodermalm for our stay in Stockholm and really enjoyed our stay in this area. We were in walking distance of SoFo and found plenty of interesting cafes, restaurants and shops on our doorstep. There was a very lively buzz about SoFo in the evening and you are spoilt for choice for where to eat and... More

Many turists go to Stockholm city and miss this wonderful place. There are a few houses from the late 1800-hundreds and a lot from the begining of 1900-hundreds. you have a fantastic view over the old town and the water from Fjällgatan, which is a street on a hill. This was more or less the start of Stockholm, you have... More

It was good to get out the city centre. Within walking, underground distance, you can get a slice of normal live. Restaurants election great on the Easter side of the island. On the western side do walk thought the allotments to get a feel of non icy live.

Sodermalm is the place to stroll around if you are in Stockholm. A neighborhood with gushy life, filled with people, restaurants, cafes and a great variety of shops. Step off the "tunnelbana - underground train" at Slussen, pass by Stadsmuseet, also worth a visit and go to Götgatsbacken a pedestrian street with a great mix of everything, take a left... More

It's a very hip, trendy and fashionable part of Stockholm. There's plenty of amazing shops with swedish design (no, not ikea!) and they're as appealing as it gets (even though they're expensive as well) I strongly recommend sitting in a park or a busy spot of the neighbourhood and just do people watch, since you can see a lot of... Maybe in summer this is a different place but in january this is just an ordinary dead residential area. The Charles Dickens bar in the photo is just an old sign not corresponding to a bar at all. There is a nice church building here but generally architecture is bland.

I stayed in this area and took a whole day exploring the vintage shops, boutique's cafes and restaurants. Having walked around Gamla Stan and the city, this area is way more interesting and less touristy.
