Unpretentious working-class area where ordinary people live, work and drink coffee. Bohemian/hipster feel in places, with some great cafés. Imagine yourself in Mikael Blomkvist's world as you walk around. An underrated part of town.

Apart from all the nice bars, restaurants and shops at Gotgatan and nearby, be sure to explore the beautiful north-eastern area of the island (Fjallgatan, Asogatan, Sofia Kyrka - lots of old timey wooden huts), as well as the Monteliusvagen/Malarstrand with the most spectacular views of the city.

Yeah sure, you sometimes need to take a stroll here to get to a shop or a restaurant, but in itself? Some of the houses are really neat to look at, but I would still say that you should spend your time in other places of Stockholm. The Old City (Gamla Stan) is well worth a visit.

... Stockholm has much more to offer, so if you have few days to spend here: let's pass over directly to the old town, museums and shopping centers. Jf you want pass here a couplle of hours I suggest Stockholm free tour (about 2h and 2km walking uphill and downhill learning more things)

Just stroll around and enjoy the vicinity. The place is full of odd stores and nice bars. Have a beer or two a Medborgarplatsen and just watch people go by.

Sodermalm has a laid back atmosphere. Its many offerings include the modern/new and vintage. Pleasant to stroll up and down the main shopping street and enjoying a cup of coffee at the many side walk cafes.

Lots of good bars and restaurants. Not too expensive. Attractive area to stay in and felt like an authentic part of Stockholm to stay in with easy travel around the city.

Söder is the area of where the youths gather (mostly the hipsters) and have fun. There are lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, and nightclubs. Stockholm nightlife central.
