As more people have mentioned it's the hip part of town, you will be able to find a lot of different kind of stores within all from cloths - furniture - second hand - old electronics - cd stores and so on and so on. Great selection of restaurants and bars, everything from proper Swedish "hak (=A little shabby places)"... More

A really nice part of town ! Lots of cool shops and excellent restaurants. The atmosphere is relaxed and you feel very very safe and its great to have a meal and then just wander around the streets afterwards. This used to be the poorest quarter of Stockholm, but now the most prime real estate zone. Lovely place for a walk, of you do not mind hills, plus many second hand shops on the level areas. Can get some really good scenic views.

Stockholm is a wonderful place to stroll around and soak up the city. With good weather, one could spend hours walking around, people watching from a caffe or bench, taking pictures, or having a delicious if expensive meal. Lots of interesting buildings and shops abound in Sodermalm, and the waterfront is especially lovely.

If you are young or young at heart, and would like to enjoy the vibrancy of this wonderful city, choose to stay in Sodermalm. It is easy to walk around.
