I had earlier published this review as "Citadel"; however it was turned-down. Present structure was built in 1848 - it had two predecessors - first one was built in 1660 when "Kastellhomen" became a Naval base. Second one was built in 1746 ; however it was destroyed in 1845 due to a Gunpowder explosion. Present building was initially painted Brick... More

We walked over the bridge to visit the Modern Museet. We ended up walking around the entire island in less than 15 minutes. There are no gimmicky shops or restaurants. It was just a nice stroll. If you are visiting the museum, take the time to walk around before heading back into the main city center.

Quiet and more peaceful than the city centre. Good place for a stroll or drink. Only minutes away from the main attractions. Arrive by bus and leave by boat

beautiful small island. Just for a stroll or a picnic on the banks. Visit Chapman for great pancakes with jam and cream and enjoy the scenery on the water

It's a nice place, not too busy, nice walking and lot of greenery. There were some big posh houses, and a 5* hotel. You are away of the busy part of Stockholm.

good for a romantic walk with stopps in various possible cafees at the sea. Restaurants are not the fancy ones, therefore meet locals at ist best.

An island smackdab in the middle of Stockholm, actually the old home of the swedish marine. Such tranquil surroundings for a wlk or a cycling tour. A gem.

We a family of 6 (4 generations) stayed 3 nights at Hotel Skeppsholmen. We had booked our trip to Stockholm well in advance and was anticipating great weather in July, thus this was not to be the case, with light and heavy showers as well as some small spells of sun. We arrived in the early afternoon, the rooms not... More

Will be equally good to take a walk here during summer as well. Takes around 30 mins to complete your... More

Skeppsholmen is a very small Island next to the center. The island is very quiet with alot of trees and only few people, there is an hotel there, which appeared very calm and nice, The modern museum is also in the island, and there is a bus from the station to get there
