This beautiful terraced home of Carl Milles and his wife Olga overlooking the water provides a showplace for around 200 sculptures both originals and replicas of his work. Around every corner you discover another sculpture, some magnificently reflected in pools of water, others high above you on pillars and yet others in nooks and cranies. There is also a lovely... Viisted Millesgården on a sunny day and had a wonderful experience. Not only is Millegården beautfully landscaped but it offers a near meditation like serene tranquillity with it's sculptors evenly distributed throughout the gardens. Millegården is on the Lidingö island which, even though it is connected by a bridge requires a bit of effort to reach. The metro to Ropsten... More

This was the absolute highlight of Stockholm for us! The moment you step outside into this giant garden along the water, the extraordinary sight will take your breath away. Set among beautiful flowers, pools, and fountains are metal masterpieces of the artist's imagination--some drawn from mythology, some from life experiences, and some that are poetic metaphors. The artist's house is... More

Its out of the way (you first have to take the metro to Ropsen, then take a short bus ride, then walk 5 minutes (unless you are lucky to take non stop hourly bus to/from Ropsen) but well worth the trip. The changing exhibitions are interesting. The permanent collection of the Mills family as well as their residences and atelier... More

If you like art and particularly sculptures this is a must. It is a little way out of the main city but easily accessible by the underground with a short walk, up hill afterwards. One of the highlights of our stay in Stockholm.

What a joy to gain entry to a world of art, sculpture, antiquities and history on one of Stockholm's islands, overlooking the water and situated in skilfully structured gardens. Start with the still life studies, continue out to see the striking sculptures of Carl Milles and then visit the house of the artists Carl and Olga Milles, with its inspiring collectin of... More

Millesgarden is a short train, bus & walk away. The garden is filled with statues & water fountains & is located on the river with a view of the port & industrial area. Entry fee of 150sek. Worth taking time to sit, relax & enjoy the surroundings. Then enter the galleries & studio before having a snack/lunch at the restaurant.... More
