Buy the tourist card if you go see this. It got old after awhile and we were ready to leave, so don't feel like you have to stay to get your money's worth. It was nice to see the apartments. The reception areas seems dusty and dingy. more

Kungliga Slottet is the official residence of the monarch (Carl XVI Gustaf), the Swedish Royal Family, as well as the offices of the Royal Court of Sweden. The royal family's private residence is Drottningholm Palace. Kungliga Slottet boasts 608 rooms, making it the largest palace in the world still used by a head of state. The palace itself is a... more

The Changing of the Guards was worth seeing in the Palace's Courtyard. Yet again it's free so if you don't like it you are not losing anything neither. We liked it. The tour of the palace we have found it long and yes from our side slightly boring too. It's too big for nothing. too many different entrances to so... more

I was lucky and was passing by Stockholms Royal Palace around 12 noon and caught the Changing of the Guard! It was something I had not planned on seeing, but got to see anyway. Plus, it's a free thing to see in an expensive city. I would reccomend this if you are in the area of Old Town (Gamla Stan)... more

The "museum" is totally not worth it, it has nothing special to offer. It is supposed to be three museums in one (The 3 crowns, the apartments, and the treasury), but it is actually only one very poor one. The treasury is small, and only has like 5 crowns and 5 swords. The 3 crowns museum is filled with replicas.... more

Being my first and only experience with European castles, I must say that the palace has some lovely and unique areas to visit if you buy the pass that allows access to all areas. There are tours that explain the background of the rooms but you will want to go on your own also as they bypass many areas but... more

The Royal Palace of Stockholm is an imposing building in Gamla Stan. It has many individual sights that are all worth seeing. You could easily spend over half day here. The majority of the palace is taken up with formal rooms including the State Apartments. These housed a range of period furniture, tapestries and the like. There was also a... more

We arrived early (about 11:30) for the ceremony and were able to get a perfect spot. By noon when it began it was quite crowded. Not as professional as you might see at some other countries but we loved it. The band and guard enter the courtyard on horseback. Plenty of marching and music. I would guess the Changing of... more

For people who have visited palaces and castles in France, Italy, Spain, UK, ... this place will be a littlebit boring. Ok, it's interesting from a pure historical point of view, but the interiors are just typical 18th - 19th century rooms. Nothing special. And once you have seen a couple, you have seen it all. The crown jewels are... more

The best part about the Swedish Royal Palace was the changing of the guard. It takes an hour and involves quite a few horses. It starts around Noon. You can also see the Royal Apartments. I didn't find the royal apartments that impressive. Nothing about the room decoration or the furniture made me say wow. more
