We went there by tramway to see the Vasa Museum. It is an island so close to the city and yet you think you are in the countryside! Residential area with beautiful houses near the sea, museums, promenades... and a recreational area during summer.

There is so much to do and see in Djurgarden! We visited Junibacken with the kids and they LOVED it, I have to admit it was very cool. Also the Vasa muesum is a must do as well as Skasen. Give yourself the day to explore Skasen, it is HUGE!

It's a serious walk to get right around but we did it - some 10 miles - but if you're not that energetic there's a bus and a tram which will get you most of the way there. Park is just fantastic and has a great bird sanctuary with lots of varied bird nests, herons particularly. Some well placed cafes... More

the whole Island resembles all of Sweden. There is history in skansen and the Vasa museum, in the Nordic museum you'll find stuff from more modern times as well as the old times, a nice old school theme park, amazing walking parks, very cleany (even to Stockholm standards) so definitely a palce to visit!

I went to Djurgarden from Stockholm with a SL boat. It was really nice with sunshine and 16oC!! The only thing was that Grona Lund was closed....

Some interesting features in this park, such as the old school with a woman in period dress happy to share details of the building's past, and the smoky woodcutter's hut, with a grizzled chap also telling stories. The farm was also worth exploring. Some of the zoo was good, though some less so. The lynx looked sad to be locked... More

We took a bus to the far east of the island, and walked along the banks as far as Skansen museum, about 3 km. There was heavy snow, and the whole walk was wonderfully atmospheric. And a range of good places to warm up and eat or drink at the end near Skansen.

This is the place everyone should visit when they are in Sweden. It is best in the summer time, because they have concerts. This year lots of big artist.
