we took our bicycles and we have tried to explore the Djurgarden area. The perfect sunny August day was ideal for DJurgarden .It's unbelievable that you can find such a place within the city. We had a fantastic lunch in one of the Swedish traditional restaurants and we really enjoyed our day.

We wanted to visit Vasa museum and planned to walk there from the Kaknäs Tower via Djurgårdsbrunnsvägen - but my map reading is anything but good, so we ended up in Djurgården. And glad we did - this is something I miss I don't have near home - a quiet(er) island. People who live near there in the city center... More

We spent the afternoon walking around this area. We bought cheese, meat, bread and tomatoes and had a picnic lunch. Very pretty setting.

Took a Segway tour of the city which included Djurgarden. Interesting old Scandinavian village set up so you could see how they lived then. Also well worth a visit.

Beautiful island, great way to experience nature in a city, and lots of museums/activities to choose from. Especially great if you have kids.

Very scenic. Walked all around. Stopped for cold refreshment as it was a very hot day. It was a Sunday so there were lots of people out and about.

So much to see and do. We visited one afternoon to do recon for the rest of our trip. They didn't have bikes for kids to rent so we rented a golf cart (kids liked it better anyway!) and drove around the entire island for awhile. We ran into some locals who pointed us in the right direction and just... More

All attractions on this island open at 10:00a so before that time it is a heaven of tranquillity. We walked all the way from the city centre and found it a very interesting walk alongside the attractions and houses/mansions. For those less enthusiastic about walking there is a frequent tram connection with the centre.
