I absolutely love Fårö. My husband's parents live on Gotland, and Fårö is a short drive north, then a ferry ride across a sound (car goes on ferry, 10 minutes, free). We saw the Bergman museum, need no more than an hour there. Then drove through countryside, had a lovely lunch at Ebbe's, then went to look at the shoreline... More

Fårø - the small island close to Gotland is where Ingmar Bergman made his most famuos films. A very nice and informativemuseum give you a good view into the fanous swedes life and work. And much so also Liv Ullmans. If you go there, bring your bicykle and let your car stay at Gotland. A very beautiful and easy trip... More

Fårö is a small island just off north of the island of Gotland. You can access the Island by the free ferry at Farosund. The Ferry leaves about every half hour, if you are leaving or arriving on the island very late you can make a reservation. This is a rural island but well worth the visit if you are... More

Spended a day in Bergman´s Faro yesterday and what an experience. Now I understand why he choose this island to be his home. A pleasure for mind and soul. Beautiful landscapes, untouched nature, serene and peaceful. Will return very soon to this amazing place.

We took a car ride from Visby to Fårö on an almost sunny day in January. We sighted a milk truck on the way to the Fårösund ferry, so we knew we were on schedule. The ferry leaves at half an hour intervals most of the time, so if you miss it there will be just enough time to have... More

Take a drive around Fårø, the landscape, the coast, the old fishers village, the great formations made by the sea - it is an excuisit experience. This is Ingemar Bergmans country, where he lived and worked for many years.

Easy and quick to get there from Gotland/Farosund, takes 5 mins by the ferry (free), operated every half an hour, in summer more often. I visited on the west coast the incredible rock formations mainly which was the top attraction of our visit to Gotland. Went by car around the west coast in the afternoon and stopped at Gamla Hamn... If you are a Bergman fan, do not miss visiting Faro, Gotland in Sweden, on Wednesdays there is a Bergman safari and they will take you around this beautiful island to places where some of his films were shot, Persona, Shame, Through the Glass Darkly, among them. Have lunch at the cozy Wild Strawberries cafe at the Bergmancenter. The church... More
