Fårö is a small island just off north of the island of Gotland. You can access the Island by the free ferry at Farosund. The Ferry leaves about every half hour, if you are leaving or arriving on the island very late you can make a reservation. This is a rural island but well worth the visit if you are... More

Spended a day in Bergman´s Faro yesterday and what an experience. Now I understand why he choose this island to be his home. A pleasure for mind and soul. Beautiful landscapes, untouched nature, serene and peaceful. Will return very soon to this amazing place.

Take a drive around Fårø, the landscape, the coast, the old fishers village, the great formations made by the sea - it is an excuisit experience. This is Ingemar Bergmans country, where he lived and worked for many years.

I visited on the west coast the incredible rock formations mainly which was the top attraction of our visit to Gotland. Went by car around the west coast in the afternoon and stopped at Gamla Hamn... If you are a Bergman fan, do not miss visiting Faro, Gotland in Sweden, on Wednesdays there is a Bergman safari and they will take you around this beautiful island to places where some of his films were shot, Persona, Shame, Through the Glass Darkly, among them. Have lunch at the cozy Wild Strawberries cafe at the Bergmancenter. The church... More
