We stopped at Naturum at the foot of Skuleberget mountain (easily accessible by car from E4) for a free 'Family guided tour' offered by the centre which starts at 11am. The climb/walk was easy for children (mine 7 and 5 yrs old) - without professional mountain climbing gear and we learnt about interesting facts about the mountain (world's highest coastline)... I did this short hike as an in between trailing the Hoga Kusten Leden. The Hoga Kusten Hike passes through a very nice area with spectacular rock formations and equally spectacluar views. Organisation was super and the all the people? Well they are outdoor people, super people. Highly recommended.

The High Coast of Sweden is an amazing place for people who love nature visits. Sweden has two nature areas on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. These are Laponia and the High Coast. The high coast has plenty of hiking routes where the Skuleskogen National Park and Skuleberget are some of the highlights. You can find more information... More

The High Coast is unlike anything I've ever seen before and definitely worth a visit if you are in Sweden. It has beautiful landscape in the archipelago which is unique to the area with a land rise of 8 mm per year, and some nice countryside to boot. I would recommend finding a home base such as Snibbens, and then... More

Hoga Kusten is fairly large area along the Gulf of Bothnia bounded by Horno in the south and Kopmanholmen in the north along the E4 Highway. We toured this area by car and I think it would be very difficult to see all the sights without a car unless you had a bunch of time (days and days). The country... More

Few outside Sweden know of this area as a good destination, yet there is so much beauty there. A visit sometime after midsummer and before mid August gives a good chance of seeing some unique places. It's a place of water and stunning nature. There are quaint fishing villages, tiny old fishermen's chapels, often with naive paintings, trails through the... More

There is more to Sweden than Stockholm..the High Coast is on UNESCO world heritage list and is well worth the visit! Its a beautiful archipelago with small fishing villages such as Ulvön and Trysunda. There is ferries to those islands several times per day during summer and to a low cost. The island of Ulvön has a gorgeous hotel just... More
