We too are obsessed with UNESCO sites. And I studied art history. Am I missing something here? It was a beautiful cemetary. And I appreciate the modern architecture to an extent. But when I think of all the beautifully designed cemetaries that aren't on UNESCO (Arlington, Lviv, Vienna). There's no directions to famous graves, which was a bit disappointing, but... More

We visited the Woodland Cemetery on a Sunday morning, when a guided tour takes place in English. You can either buy tickets from the City Museum in advance (free with the Stockholm Card) or get them from the guide on the day. As others have said, this is a beautiful, peaceful place, and it's easy to forget that it is... More

We are mildly obsessed with seeing UNESCO sites, so we went out to Skogskyrkogarden in the late evening hoping that it would be more interesting than it looked online. It wasn't. If you have no particular interest in landscape architecture and/or don't have time to go take a guided tour, just heading out there alone to see it will not... More

This is a beautiful and tranquil place; actually I visited it a few months ago… thought that I should write a review for other future travelers. The place is huge, serene and simply peaceful, one can spend hours just sitting and slowly walking around… the weather is superb when I visited it, I highly recommended this place.

Took the subway to reach this. It's like right next to the subway station. It's seriously so big there! I was impressed that the roads to this place were also cleared since I didn't expect it to be cleared. This whole place was designed by 2 famous architects and my friend explained to me that they believed that when someone... More

Rarely does design in it's simplicity and evocation of serenity combine to make peace with existence. Sound like B.S.? This place will strum your love of nature muse and make it cool to tour a cemetery. Visit and you will understand why this is a UNESCO site. Warning: go on a tour, the chapels are not accessible unless with a... More

Skogskyrkogården, the Woodland Cemetery, is the most beautiful cemetery ground I've ever seen. A cemetery? Why would anyone put a cemetery into a travel itinerary? Well, I did, and it proved to be one of the highlights of my whole visit to Scandinavia. Go, because it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. Go, to look upon Greta Garbo's grave. Or go,... More

Every year, Saturday between 31 October and 6 November is "All Saint´s DAy" in Sweden. At SKogskyrkogården, people visit and bring candles to the graves. All other lights in Skogskyrkogården are off. Go there at late afternoon! You can not imagine what it is like to be surrounded by half a million canles in an enormous and beautiful place like... More

Especially wintertime with snow is a beautiful place to visit. Big pine trees are welcoming you. Spring gives you prosperity with light green birch trees.
