Frederiksborg Castle is fantastic. I often walk through the courtyard and the gardens just to get a quick fix of beauty, but it's also great for spending a day looking at the art and architecture within. Take the small ferry from Hillerød's main square for an extra lovely experience - especially in the spring, when there are ducklings and signets... More

Baeutifull castle, like any other castle in any other European country. That's the problem with Frederiksborgs castle. As it's not in it's original shape because of a huge fire, which burned the castle down, I'd say many other castles are more interesting. However, if you are around, I recommend. More

The ceilings and grounds are wonderful. Make sure to check out each ceiling - they are all different. A sunny day would be the best for this visit. It is an easy regional train ride from Copenhagen, under 30 minutes. More

Great place to visit. The gardens are beautiful and a great place to take a stroll for a romantic date or for some quiet contemplation. The reason why I "only" give it 4 stars is due to the actual castle not being on the same level as the surroundings. Having said that it is still a very nice place to... More

I went to Frederiksborg slot during Christmas Holiday, so there was very quite, peaceful and extremely beautiful. Let the photos say :-) How to go? Take the train from Copenhagen H to Hillerød and walk around 15 min. But it is a big problem that I do not know which train is from Copenhagen to Hillerød... My solution is to... More

Really impressive architectural features combined with amazing artwork to be enjoyed, and expansive parklike grounds. Plan for at least half a day...more if you want to enjoy a nice meal in the outdoor cafe on the grounds. Worth the train ride up from Copenhagen. More

We've been to all of the major castles near Copenhagen (all the way up to Kronborg) and this is our favorite. We went in March and while it was bloody cold, we had the place nearly to ourselves. The walk up to the castle is phenomenal and you must do the walk around the lake to get the best pictures... More
