The fountain itself is beautifully done but it is the story of the fountain's character and charm that stole the moment for me. Be sure to read about the legend that this fountain is about. As a women, it was empowering and great to see such an expression of art. The garden area around it is well worth a visit... More

Gefion Fountain is quite a spectacular sculpture, showing a Norse God trying to tame 4 raging bulls. It is a nice photo stop along the coastal walk to the north of the city which leads to the LIttle Mermaid about 5 minutes further on. Water won't necessarily be flowing when you visit.

Take a break at the Gefion fountain while taking in the views of surrounding esplanade and church. Great place to sit on a warm day to catch mist from the fountain.

The Gefion Fountain is a very beautiful fountain and the sculptures convey strength. The Danish artist Anders Bundgaard was the person who designed this fountain, and the fountain was completed in 1908.

You'll notice that Danes love strolling and riding bikes. As a result, they seem to have placed fountains and statues seemingly around every corner. While few of the pieces are breathtaking or otherwise significant, it collectively makes for more scenic walks. The Gefion fountain is part of a very attractive walk along the waterfront stretching between the Citadel (Kastellet) and... More
