This is a gorgeous fountain that you will certainly walk past on your way to the little Mermaid. Take some time to see it.

It is a large fountain on the harbour front of Copenhagen, near the Kastellet. The figures on the top of it, a group animals is being driven by the goddest, Gefjun. It was donated to the city of Copenhagen by the Carlsberg Foundation on the occasion of the brewery’s 50-year anniversary. Nowadays it is used as a wishing well

Built in 1908, Gelfion Fountain is not only the most impressive fountain in Copenhagen - it's also the largest. The goddess Gelfion has turned her four sons into oxen and uses them to plow a huge area in one night. In turn she was given the land. She picked it up and tossed it into the sea, creating the island... More

You see the Little Mermaid, and it's just a little mermaid statue. Then you see Gefion Fountain and it's incredible. It's huge and all the figures around it somewhat tell a story. And it's a fountain. And I thought it was fairly unique in both the sculpture and the water features. I was very impressed.

This beautiful fountain is a very worthwhile place to stop, just a short walk from the statue of the little little mermaid. While we visited the fountain in the early morning, am certain at night it would be very impressive illuminated (which I have only seen in a Danish movie) this is a great place to take a few photographs.

Walking through the Churchill Park on my way to the Little Mermaid, I came across this fountain with an impressive sculpture on top of a 3 tiered wedding cake-like fountain. What struck me about the sculpture was, there were oxen instead of horses and water spraying out at the rear of the chariot-like thing. What I learned was that it... More

Out of all the fountains and statues in copenhagen this one turned out to be my favourite one. I appreciated the water coming out the animals nose and also the way it looks like she is moving through the water. It's in a lovely park and very close to the mermaid statue

This is a breathtaking sculpture and fountain. It features Gefion riding a chariot and whipping four bulls, her sons whom she's transformed to plow up land according to the Norse myth. There are beautiful details, such as the snakes and cherubs whose mouths spit water into the fountain. It's a beautiful image!

Nice fountain, close to the mermaid and free. Worth taking a look whilst riding around on the bikes you've hired. If you haven't hired a bike then you should do so right now!
