Quiet and peaceful when we visited

This area is very clean and architecturally beautiful. Lovely houses next to the canal and more expensive looking apartments , a big contrast to the free state of Christiana!!!!

If you're in to Danish design and architecture, you definitely have to go here. Take a walk or bike tour if weather is permitting or a bus or boat sightseeing tour. We did a little of all of them and saw a lot of really cool buildings and visited some cosy cafees to warm up in the freezing winter wind.... More

We decided to hit Christianhavn, an island across the canal and where Christiania is located. We crossed bridges and ended up at Church of the Savior where we were able to climb the tower for 45 DK. Eh gads. There were lots and lots of stairs. I rested frequently but finally made it to the open area with fabulous and... More

This place is very quaint - it reminded me a little bit of Camden in London but on a much smaller scale. Funky little buildings and independent market stalls (not many). Nice to have a walk around and see something a it different.

A great canal area to walk around ,close to Christiana village and ,the church spire which is visible for miles is both interesting and weird, and you are able to climb to the top, boat trips are available around the canals too

It is an interesting area in Copenhagen which is home to the commune called Christiania. The atmosphere there is quite nautical and I quite fell for the golden spiral spire of the Church of Our Saviour which looms up as soon as you exit the train station. If it once was a working-class locality, today it is hip and bohemian.

I love Copenhagen so, how couldn't I love the main spot of the city? Very nice to see even with bad weather, next to everything, anyways, the restaurants around are quite expensive (of course)

This area is famous as one of the most attractive areas in Copenhagen. Surrounded with Canals and specials boutiques. Beautiful architecture, and lots of life. Nice Cafes and Restaurants, bakery and you name it. Definitely an area you want to live!.

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighborhood Profile
Christianshavn
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
