Description: The National Museum in the heart of Copenhagen is Denmark's largest museum...
The National Museum in the heart of Copenhagen is Denmark's largest museum of cultural history. The exhibition at the National Museum covers over 10,000 years of history, and a visit to the museum can be completely customized to suit your own interests in a journey through time and space. Amongst other things, you can experience Denmark's cultural history from Viking times to the present day, ethnographic treasures from all over the world, the art and culture of ancient antiquity, and the changing spectacular special exhibitions. In the Children's Museum, you can see and try things that show how people ate, worked, played and dressed hundreds of years ago in different environments. Admission to all exhibitions at the National Museum is free, although there is a charge for the guided tours on various themes.

We came specifically to see the exhibits on post-Reformation Danish history, but got so entranced by the large, comprehensive display of prehistoric artifacts that we barely skimmed the rest of the collection.

This was the third time I have been in this museum. I had nothing to do for a couple hours so I came here again and looked at the first floor. This floor houses the childrens' toys and things from times gone by. Life in past times. The museum is very good but you need to visit it a few... More

Exceptional variety of objects although the square layout meant quite a walk to the exits. The items covered a wide variety of native artifacts but we enjoyed the dolls houses best.

This museum has a superb collection of prehistoric danish history, including preserved burial remains. The displays are very informative and it is easy to follow and quite interesting. We spent several hours here one day and could have easily spent a couple more, except we wanted to see everything in our one week trip. To top it off, the museum... More

There's no skipping the national museum if you make a city trip. It's free and you can view the national history and culture of a country in one museum visit. I loved the viking age in the National museum in Copenhagen!

Our only morning at the National Museum was well worth the visit. Entry is free, there are many exhibits to see-Danish, ancient Greek, Egyptian; My daughters really enjoyed the exhibit on doll houses where you can see both the front and glance on the inside; Very enjoyable in in all...

In my 2nd day in Copenhagen, I was very keen on learning more about Denmark and off course had lots of time to kill being a Sunday. That's when I decided to search for a local museum on Google places/maps and found this museum. It is a very good collection of historical danish stories including the viking age. It takes... More

I loved the collections on the ground floor and the Greek and Egyptian floor. They really have a lot of incredible stuff, more than I've seen in most museums. The prehistoric, Roman and viking artefacts are amazing and very well presented. There's even a huge complete rowing boat and several mummies with all of their belongings. Entrance is free and... We sepnt an afternoon at the National museum and found it to be enjoyable and informative. It is a nice no-cost option for those interested in Danish heritage and history.

There is a lot to see in this museum. We spent 3 hours in it and only got through half of the exhibits (and that was going at a quick pace). The early Danish history was very interesting, even the bodies from the peat bogs (and I normally have issues with bodies in museums). I did have to have a... More
