With an incredible collection it is you can not leave Copenhagen without visit this place. Specially because of the old age and Vikings collection. On Sundays entrance is free.

The price is free. They ask for a donation to support them and it is worthwhile. The museum is filled with displays to grab your attention. We especially liked the section on Danish colonization and emmigration. The gift shop is the best we visited in a month of travels. Fair prices for quality items.

I recently spent two months in Scandinavia, Finland and Estonia-and this was the best history museum I visited. The Prehistory section took me several hours alone (of course, not everyone is as interested as me), and it, combined with other sections to include the Viking Age, give you a fantastic overview of Scandinavian (and Danish) history. There are other areas... More

We enjoyed our visit here. The building was not well marked from the outside, but people pointed us in the right direction. It was a little confusing the way rooms go off of one another & suddenly you realize you are back where you started. Loved the doll houses and looking inside of them from behind & loved the old... Admission free of charge, the museum offers diverse collections mostly connected with history of Denmark and with ethnography. What I was impressed by most was the collection of articrafts and everyday objects coming from the South Seas and Greenland - I think in this respect it is the richest collection I have ever seen. Interesting for me was also the... More

We decided to visit here when the weather closed in and is a lovely place to spend a few hours - The history of Denmark section is really interesting as was the temporary exhibition of Fur's which centred around the for and against debate for the wearing of fur. Nice modern building with lovely looking food and a well stocked... More

We spent a very interesting few hours here on our final day in Copenhagen and it was lovely to visit something free after spending 4 days in what is a pretty pricey city! The exhibitions were very well laid out - visiting a museum with two teenagers can be a bit hit or miss but my two were kept fascinated... More

While it is free to visit, wasn't really impressed by the diversity of museum exhibits. Would rather spend time in other attractions.

Thinking we were heading to the train station, we were actually walking in the opposite direction; that, however, turned up an unexpected delight. There before us was Nationalmuseet standing grand and even more delightful, a museum that we could enjoy free of charge. Together, we had spent hours in Art History classes, and in Nationalmuseet were collections of works by... More
