We enjoyed the exhibits of Denmark from early time to the present. Everything from clothing to inventions and design to attitudes during WWII was well displayed. This is a great place to bring children. I would suggest planning a one to a one and a half hour visit. Very helpful welcomers at the door will explain the general layout and... More

Great museum with tons of history concerning Denmark and its Viking past. The best thing about this place aside from its pieces is the fact that it is totally free. P.S..There is free Wi-Fi within the whole museum.

We concentrated on the Viking exhibit and it was huge. Told the history through the ages and included a reconstructed as best as could be of an original Viking ship, it was like a jigsaw puzzle with quite a lot of bits missing but gave you a good feel for size and construction. Lots of gold, amber and silver exhibits... More

Very nice museum if you are interested in history. Also very nice temporary exhibitions. No admission fee is a plus in this othervice very expensive city. They could have a wider guide to the museum or audioguide or something. Some of the things didn't really open up without a guide. Also free wifi was a plus! And the museum shop... More

If you are interested in the beginnings and the history of Denmark it is very useful. It also has all kinds of artifacts from Egypt , Asia and other places. The entrance is free so you can go as many times as you want and I think kids would enjoy it.

This could easily be a sensory overload museum, because it's room after room of artifacts from different cultures. They are beautifully presented, but there's not a lot of description and it's easy to feel trapped in here. I saw an exhibit about Navajo Blankets titled Web of the Spider Woman, which was small, but nice. Not much else interested me.... More

I spend a day in this museum and still didn't see everything. The prehistory section is the best, filled with artifacts and lots of information. The information was up to date and accurate. Well worth a visit. There is also a tea room and an excellent gift shop.

For a free museum, it really packs a punch! There is so much space to explore into this beautiful old royal palace. I really enjoy the more modern history exhibitions, including the old Christiania pusher booths displayed.

We liked the Nationalmuseet: It's free, offers free wifi, and gives a good overview over the history of Denmark. However, since we have seen pretty much each and every history museum in Denmark, it couldn't offer many new information. The museum is highly recommended to families with smaller children (kindergarten/primary school) because you can travel through space and time in... More
