I've grown accustomed to seeing the same sorts of exhibits at national museums around the world, but this one in Copenhagen is certainly unique. Centered around the unique history of Denmark, there are three floors of exhibits (including one outside the museum around the corner) that are fascinating and informative. The biggest pull for me was the perfectly preserved remains... More

WE really enjoyed our time in the National Museum. we joined a tour which took us along a time lime from vikings to the present day nd gave a really good snapshop of the history of Denmark. Our tour guide was knowledgable and clearly spoken. Highly recommended

Nationalmuseet is a great place to go when you are in Copenhagen. As many reviewers pointed out, it is free. More than that, it gives a very comprehensive overview of Danish history from prehistory onwards. Some of the exhibits, including the massive skeleton of a moose-/elk-like animal, the huge carriage, and the rune stones, were particularly interesting. It also gives... More

Unfortunately we got here late on Sunday and only had time to view a small area. The Viking displays and the mummies were amazing. I never expected to see Viking jewelry made of gold!

This is a great museum, it's quite large, so budget a few hours (days?) if you plan on seeing the whole thing carefully. I spent too much time on the first level (prehistoric), so in the upper levels (Renaissance, Ethnic, etc.), I had to walk through very quickly. The room numbers are pretty easy to follow for the most part,... More

We attended the museum today and was very impressed, our 6 and 4 year old really enjoyed it too. The children's museum was informative and loads of hands on activities for them to do. Worth a visit.

It is vast, it would be easy to spend several days here, disappointed that the Viking exhibition had moved on to another location. Good cafe on site.

The museum has some real treasures which took my breath away. If you like Neolithic history and bronze age artefacts, this museum is perfect for you. Allow a good 3 hours to fully appreciate this marvel.
