This gem of a museum is centrally located in Copenhagen. It is absolutely free, and this seemed incredible to us, as it is so well kept and there is so much to see and learn! Plan to spend several hours in their many exhibits, which are very well organized, and have English translations. We saw a special exhibit on furs... More

Vast collection which stretches from prehistory to present day.The Inuit part of the impressive Ethnographic collection is the most extensive of its kind in the world. Exhibits of kayaks and Inuit clothing and other material should not be missed. I was also struck by the Day of the Dead exhibit, illustrating an aspect of Mexican culture. There is a good... More

I love museums like this one which give a fantastic overview of who the people are of Denmark. Really enjoyed the prehistoric exhibit with bog people, huge collection of artifacts from their time. The series of rooms decorated through the years revealed how world events helped shape Denmark

The museum is large and has a vast collection of archaeological and ethnographic artefacts that can appeal to anybody. Of course, all things Vikings are the main highlight here. It is entertaining for people of all ages and can well take several hours to see everything. The museum admission is free, there is a great gift shop and a nice... More

Fantastic museum free and open to the public. The displays were quite unique and awesome especially the well-preserved remains from the b.c. era. Very educational of Danish heritage and culture. We loved the featured extensive fur collection. Unable to visit other half of museum same day. The place is bigger than I thought.

Loved this museum had some incredible exhibits. So big though I don't think I even managed to see everything. Was disappointed that the coffee shop was not open as walked up a thirst that's for sure. Few school trips so kids running round the top floor

The kids (6 and 7) loved the children's section, which was hands-on and lots of fun. They also tolerated the other exhibitions, which we grown-ups would have liked more time to explore. Good cafe onsite.

The building is lovely, but when hanging up our coats, we were surprised to see more people in the cafe than in the actual collection rooms. We would soon learn why: I love history and history museums, but Nationalmuseet just seemed like a random hodgepodge to me. I have very little knowledge of Danish history, but left the museum three... More

We spent our time in the prehistory and medieval areas. Be prepared to spend all day here! (Especially if you are a history and art nut) The exhibits were fantastic! Super interesting and well curated. There were descriptions for everything in Danish and English. You can skim the galleries and enjoy the museum within a couple hours or you can... More
