We went having tried Louisiana but this is for hardened modern art lovers - we genuinely didn't get some of it - some of it was quite upsetting too but I guess this is what it's meant to do. It's a great building but it's quite expensive so again go if you're a fan not if you're passing by.

The Arken is a fabulous place to visit, followed by a short walk to the beach and/or lake on a sunny day. It's a little bit complicated to get there from Copenhagen central but we managed just fine. The Hundertwasser exhibition was a highlight of our entire visit to Copenhagen. A gorgeous space and fabulous art. We really enjoyed our... More

We went to Arken to see the Hundertwasser exhibition. Although the museum looked kind of hard to reach from central Copenhagen, it wasn't that bad – we took the S-Tog to Ishøj and catched the bus, very convenient. Arriving at the museum, we were stunned by the fantastic modern architecture, looking like some kind of strange, white ship stranded on the... More

I am not sure that it is true but so far it has always been sunny when I have visisted Arken! As it is right on the beach this is certainly an advantage! The building is very intresting - and very modern. (It is a bit embarrasingly, but I am so fond of the toilets with their "raw2 design!) I... More

5 years ago we visited this site while this museum was under construction. Now that it is finished and has been open for about a year, we returned. The building is meant to resemble a ship (according to a Danish friend it is supposed to be a sinking ship, but that might just be his sense of humor). There is... More

Very nice modern art museum. Beautiful building next to the beach. Really nice to walk through the museum and then hit the beach on a nice day.

Arken is a fantastic collection of contemporary art, situated in a stunning building. When I arrived, one of the staff took the time to give me an informative introduction to the museum, why it is designed the way it is, and some great in depth information on the exhibits. All the staff I spoke to were knowledgeable and had a... More

A mediocre art meseum, nothing close to wonderful Lousiana. The building is rather odd and seems to rather unconnecte to the lovely near by beach which seems to be a shame.

Short train ride from Copenhagen followed by a walk of about a mile or a bus ride to get there. The gallery is almost on the beach - there are just sand dunes separating you from the sea. The art on display varies but when we went (3 May 2014) there was a collection of Damien Hirst's work, a huge... More

It seemed a little out of the way, you need to get a train and then a bus. BUT MAN was Arken worth it. Tucked away in the rural outskirts of Copenhagen, you can see a Grayson Perry tapestry, an Ai Weiwei work, an Anthony Gormley sculpture, a large collection of Damien Hirst, as well as plenty of pieces I'd...
