Lovely bay

Just a short walk up from the main road and you have this beautiful bay with a beach bar just getting ready for the season.

In fact these are two beaches.Elias and port of xerxes. Both somehow have the same character.Sandy inside sandy outside, in the middle there is on both occasions a small cantina with some goodies to eat like small fish and one or two meat dishes. They are protected by european law regarding natural beauties so they are unspoiled and not crowded. I... More

Bit of a trek through the forest,to get to this beach, but, worth the effort.Or,if youve hired a car,its possible,to gain access via a rough track

So you get off the bus as stop 23 the walk through the incredible Koukonaris Pine woods for 20 minutes, go left at the Cross Road paths and another 10 minutes will bring you down, down to the horseshoe bay of sparkley sand with the orange sandstone cliffs and the best beach bar anywhere on the island.

This is a really good beach, very long and almost empty when we visited. Perfect sand although the open and quickly deep water throws up quite a swathe of seaweed. But please do not let that put you off. A visit is totally recommended by any beachlover.

Mandraki, was I think our favourite beach. Lovely walk to get there with not many obstacles and quite straightforward. The water was clear, warm and easy to get into - no stones. The tavern was superb especially the oregano potatoes. Very friendly. The WC leaves a lot to be desired but hey this is a beach. Was clean but basically... More

Can be quiet at times and need a car to get there, although you can walk through pine forest. Sea clear and safe. Best chips on island from family run taverner
