Being the only byzantine monastery in Thessaloniki, it really worths a visit. The breathtaking view of the town, the peacocks, the atmosphere of the monastery and the sense of history within its walls are unique. I was astonished by the frescos, which were destroyed during the ottoman period. I was also astonished by the three-part kind of church, with 3... More

Even writing about it is a waist of my time. Nothing intresting, and we searched. Nothing special regarding construction techniques, facade is dull and unappealing. There is an aviary with (ugly) peacocks, nowhere decent to sit, gardens are not kept, gardens is not even the word for it. The view, well what can I say, nothing that you can not... More

A very old monastery up the top of the city. This used to be the hot spot for weddings back in the 50's till a few years back. It has old frescoes in the interior and in the gardens surrounding the monastery are beautiful peacoks.

I walked there and enjoyed both the walk and the monastery. As another reviewer has said, it's not as far as it looks on the map and it's only the last part that is a little steep. The monastery itself is quite small, but very beautiful. It's a quiet place after the cafe life of Thessaloniki and the gardens have... More

A small monastery overlooking the city from up high. This used to be one of the best churches for formal and society weddings, ceremonies still conducted, but seemed a bit run down.

Beautiful place near city walls atop the mountain. Amazing views. Still in use, a Christening had just taken place.

The monastery sits on the highest point of the city. The views of Thessaloniki were absolutely beautiful from up here. We didn't go inside the monastery, because it was closed, but it was worth the drive up for the view!!! If you can get up there it is worth it.

There was a wedding going on in the church whenwe visited but we could wander in the grounds and see the old basilica. The views over the city are magnificent and it is a tranquil place.

Nice place to enjoy the city's view! Also a really nice church in the inside. What I really liked in this church, is that the priests had short beards and looked somewhat different from priests in other orthodox churches.

This is a historical monastery , but it is also situated in a great position with full view of the city. The yard is nice, too.
