I have been to many museums but this is one to fall in love with. Small, manageable, even with young kids, well organized, carefully curated, hospitable, accessible. Our young kids really learned a lot during our visit and so did we. Even if you visit just to see the utensils and jewelry of this time period is worth it. The... More

The museum is centrally located; there are sufficient parking spaces within a diameter of 500 metres. The collections are displayed in a very well organised building. Work are not displayed all together in adjoining rooms;they ar rather separated by long hallways, so you can organise your visit thematically and digest what you have seen. Diplays are scarcely illuminated; maybe this... More

As well as being the best museum in Thessaloniki, with every period in byzantine history covered from palaeochristian until eighteenth century and beyond, the architecture of the museum and the cool interiors is superb. After a tour of the museum, there is a very pleasant cafe with a very nice menu, and a small but good shop which I always... More

The museum is beautifully arranged and designed. The collection of Late Antique and Byzantine mosaics and frescoes is amazing. The icon collection is extensive and includes numerous examples from the pre-iconoclast period through the 19th century.

I'm not an expert on museum layouts/ curators, but the layout, flow and atmosphere of this museum seemed exceptional to me. It's laid out in 13-stages and each tells a clear and compelling visual story. The quality of the exhibits is first class. Suggest to make the visit in conjunctions to the next door The Archaeological Museum (get a combination... More

Housed in a very nice purpose build building it offers the history of Byzantine in separate rooms with full explanations. The selection of artefact is large and very interesting. Great educational visit.

Beautiful, very well organized, informative for a very small entry fee. (Even cheaper if you buy a combined ticket to the Archaeological Museum that's also not to be missed.) I learned a lot about Byzantine Culture. It's a remarkable experience to see how people lived thousands of years ago. Artworks are simply amazing.

Nice museum with a few lovely icons and other exhibits. Perhaps a little specialised but definately worth an hour of your time and it is next door to thhe larger archaeological museum so a joint ticket is available.

I love a well-designed and well-presented museum, and this is one of them. The lighting and layout is good, and it really makes it a treat to see the exhibits. It's not the largest of museums, and I don't think that there are many pieces in the collection that are particularly famous, but it does a good job of orienting... More
