One of the most picturesque islands of the Dodecanese, Symi promises its visitors peace and tranquility. The main city of Gialos with its neo-classical houses climbing amphitheatrically up the hill, shows the grandeur of the island. Being world famous for its natural sponges has brought Symi a great wealth which is reflected in its local architecture and culture. A stop at the beautiful bay of Panormitis is a must, the 17th century’s monastery of Saint Michael welcomes its pilgrims as well as its tourists to admire the treasures dedicated to the saint for his miracles. A visit to Symi should not be missed! « less

We took this tour as arranged by Tourtlee. George who picked us up from the hotel was charming and very knowledgeable about the history and architecture of this beautiful, small, yet charming island. The excursion was a whole day trip so it was quite tiring for us as our hotel was located in the south of the island. For us,... More

A place known for natural sponges , the harbour is full of colors and houses are designed with a special architecture ...you can also find a copy of a doric boat (original takes place in Lindos - Rhodes) ...take teh boat from Rhodes and sail to Symi .

My sister and I booked the boat excursion to Symi island via Tourtlee. We went on July 8th 2014. Below the detailed ups and downs of the trip: George (“the guy from Tourtlee”) is a real gentleman :P We don’t have a credit card, so we couldn’t book online. George offered to come to our hotel in Ialyssos to arrange... More

During our stay in Rhodos we had a trip to Symi. It took us 1 hour to get there by hovercraft. At first we visited St.Michail monastary which attracts lots of tourists. Then the island itself with its beautiful houses, small cosy restaurants and very friendly people. Our guide Peter was excellent. His story about Symi was quite interesting to... More

Poor Symi - it's a beautiful colourful village, grouped around a lovely harbour, packed with nice restaurants and shops, and with lots of lovely paths to climb up and get lovely views from above. Unfortunately, travelling from Pefkos on a tour-operator trip meant an hour and a half on a coach plus two hours on a car ferry each way,... More

Stunning photo scenes of the arrival of boat approaching island.we arranged our own travel and got tickets for the hovercraft 35 euros each but well worth it , took 40 minutes instead of 2 and half hours excursions.
