This was a tour operator guide. We took a bus to the port, then a ferry and ended up in the capital of Nisyros. A guide gave us a short talk about the capital and its history and then we had about 1.5 hours to have a look around and get lunch. It was a lovely place with lots of... More

part of an excursion to Nisyros from Kos. a small fee paid as part of the entry. Photographically quite interesting and some backgrounds where quite moonscape-ish. So get the video going and film some Blakes7 missing footage.

Even if all the island is a volcano, the visit to the Volcano Crater itself is an unforgetable moment in everyones life

Not to be missed while on the island. It can be too hot in the day so best time to visit probably in the evening.

An amazing trip, boat over to island is approx 1 hour from Kardemana. It is a beautiful island, everyone very friendly, lots of restaurant's to choose from, the seafood was fresh and delicious. There are lots of trinkets for presents to buy. Fantastic views up to the crater, well worth a walk down but beware of the smell of sulphur. Great... More

We booked with out TUI rep at our hotel on our first day and thought it would be a great combination of boat trip and island sight seeing. We took the coach to nearby town Kardemeana and caught the boat across, it was full and little places to sit or sunbathe as usually is the case. The crossing took 1... More

This is an active volcano sleeping, there are also organised tours and visitors can reach the bottom of Stefano's crater "at their own risk" according the sign at the entrance. There is an easy path taking people down and up.The experience is really unique, but everybody should be extremely careful since the temperature is high and the smell of sulfur dioxide very intense.Closed... We don't normally go on Thomson tours as we have found them very expensive over the years. This trip from Kos to Nisyros, and particularly the volcano, was not dear though and even if it was it would have been worth it. The boat trip from Kardamena was fun but this visit to the crater was the highlight. As others... More

A unique experience to visit this volcano. Just try to go in the afternoon to avoid the sun and take a bottle of water.

My mother, my six year old and I went on this trip with Harriet Travel and really enjoyed it. Top tip is make sure you book at Kos Harbour or Kardemena rather than through a rep or hotel and you will save a fortune. We went for 50 euros for all 3 of us, including transfers.... That is 87 euro... More
