Just yesterday went on a day trip to Nisyros. The trip by boat to the island from Kardamena took us 55 minutes. The sea was good, the boat moved fast. A bus took us to volcano strait from the harbour. The view on the volcano and the area around was just stunning! I would advice everybody to visit Nisyros while... More

There is so much to be impressed by Nisyros apart from the Volcano, such as the town of Nia where people bravely made a town at the top of the Volcano or the interesting town of Mandraki with it's quirky streets but the volcano is a true reminder of the power of Mother nature. Shame the people of Nisyros have... More

We took a boat tour over to Nisyros (which I would recommend doing as well as organising the bus journey to the volcano) and visited the volcano with a couple of stops. The area where the crater of the volcano is, is spectacular. You're surrounded by huge faces of land from where the volcano has shaped the land. Truly amazing... More

Do this trip! I got the ferry from Kos to Nisyros, takes about 45 mins. Then a coach took the party up to the village of Nia above the crater which has great views. The village is very quaint. The streets are small, houses close together with white walls and blue skies. There is a volcano museum which is worth... More

If you ventured to Nisiros then the volcanos well worth a visit. It stinks because of the sulphur and it's currently active. There are parts of the crater that are open and bubbling and there's a lot of gases escaping. I paid for the boat to get to the island and then a moped to drive up to the volcano... More

Must see if you already came. The volcano still emits fumes and the air smells heavy with sulphur. It's a good location for photos and selfies. Not worth going if you aren't already in Nisyros.

Took the tour and it's amazing to actually walk on the core of stuff live volcano. The tour included a visit to a village up at the top on the mountain as well. It's interesting to see typical Greek life and how it has not changed. Bring good walking shoes.

Incredible day out, not everyday you go to an active volcano. Strong smell of Sulphur (which is to be expected) but if you go down to the crater it's amazing, you see bubbling mud, steam coming out and can hear rushing beneath the surface. Has to be done, even if the bus journey there goes high (very high) ask what... More
