I liked the volcano part of the trip a lot but I regret taking the bath in the hot springs (actually a small bay with underwater sulphur springs to which you have to swim from the boat). The smell is terrible and there was even a guy in our group who felt so sick because of the smell that he... more

The Nea Kameni volcano was an unforgettable experience; it was a very cool experience to sail on the beautiful blue waters of the Mediterranean, and it was scenic once we arrived as well. The hike can be somewhat strenuous during the summer months (I went in June); definitely bring a camera and a bottle of water! The views of Santorini... more

We signed up for the Thermal Springs & Volcano Tour on our Royal Carribbean cruise, and we loved the volcano part! We took a pirate-ship-looking vessel over to the volcano, which is situated in the middle of the caldera. Our guide was very knowledgeable and native to Santorini, and shared culture tidbits along with information on the people and history... more

During our stay on Santorini, my fiance and I made several excursions. None more worthwhile than the trip to the volcano. It was inexpensive and fun. The volcano offers great views of the island; perfect for taking photos. After the hike on the volcano, a short stop by the hot springs offers a relaxing swim before heading back to the... more

We travelled to Thira from Kamari which only took 15 minutes on the local bus. It was well worth the visit. Thira sits on top of the cliffs where the cruise ships moor and you can go down to the bottom by cablecar, returning back up via donkey if your brave enough. The sites from the top of the cliffs... more

I had never been to a volcano so decided to take this tour in spite of the description of "very strenuous hike, hot etc.". It was an effort even though it was in the morning - it could have been worse. I can see how some people may have turned around rather than continue. It was not too steep but... more

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour!! The "pirate ship" that picked us up was very nice and clean. It took us to the volcano on which we had a tour guide that explained the history of the volcano, and so much more. There was plenty of time to take pictures and ask questions. My husband jumped into the... more

Right now, the volcano is really underwater, and lava coming out from time to time, have create and adds different layers of material to Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni. (last small explotion happened on 1950) If you are not a specialist and have no knowledge on these kind of things, a knowledgable guide may makes a difference when you visit... more

Take the hot springs tour! It's not really expensive, and they take you up the volcano, and then into the hot spring. You get to see some smoke coming out of the caldera (just a little bit) ... but mostly checking out all of the rock formations and colors is spectacular. The most fun of course would be the hot... more
