Description: This is the most obvious hike you can make on the island of Santorini and...
This is the most obvious hike you can make on the island of Santorini and it will lead you - if you have not discovered them by now - through the sister villages of Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli, going higher up all the time above the caldera. It then continues through the expanding housing in northern direction and it finally goes to Oia via a really magnificent path. This hike offers many changing views on the volcano, the sea and the caldera. This hike takes two hours and a half (actual walking time), but the total time can reach 4 or 5 hours. It is ideal to leave Firà at about 10am and in this way you will arrive in Oia already between 1 and 2pm. You can then eat in Oia in one of the many bars. In the afternoon you can descend to the little harbour of Ammoudi in Oia. From the bus square in Fira (when you get to Fira by bus) you have to continue to the very busy square of Theotokopoulou. This is the modern centre of Fira with a lot of travel agencies, banks and bars. In the corner, in between the George's Snack Corner and the Pelican travel agency you go left, in the direction of the caldera. You can then take one of the three streets off the right, they all lead towards the higher part of Fira. Once at the Archaeological Museum higher up (this museum is open till 3pm, but not on Mondays), take a left, past the upper station of the cable car. You then go right above the caldera, until the red-brown building higher up that dominates this neighbourhood of Firostefani: it is the P.M. Nomikos Conference Centre, where a lot of exhibitions take place – on the extending corner in front of this building many people take pictures of the marvellous panoramic view. On the left of the Centre you follow the tiled road and stairs, while you enjoy the view – in front of you you can see the even higher situated village of Imerovigli.

Definitely one of the coolest things we did while on vacation in Santorini, but it was a lot of work. Make sure you wear sneakers and bring at least 2 bottles of water. The views are amazing and you really get to experience some of the island that no one else experiences. We only saw a few other people while... More

So we did this in 3 hours and are for young 29-30 something's. I wish we could have had a few more hours to slow down have some drinks along the way. But it was great! Super pretty! The roadside OJ is to die for! Bring some cash to snack along the way, your camera, and lots of water!

Might appear cheesy but that's what I was thinking while we did that walk. We started from our hotel in Fira early morning, passed by Firostefani and Imerovigli and walked the almost barren part to Oia and down to Amoudi Bay. It was scorching hot knowing you are walking literally under the sun at 26 degrees on a day before April... More

Very enjoyable hike with breathtaking views. We started at our hotel near Imerovigli and ended in Oia. The entire hike took about 2 1/2 hours. I would suggested leaving earlier in the day as it does get hot. Bring water and wear proper footwear. The hike itself was not too difficult. I'm not much of hiker and had zero issues.... More

It is the city Center with many shops and restaurants. There was a lot of crowd but the hustle and bustle was enjoyable too. One can enjoy the small lanes and views of the place. One can easily spend the whole day just on these streets. The Improvigili is a above the city center and Firostefani one needs to walk... More

Walking through bautiful little villages.. great views all around, photo stops along the way, took us 3 1/2 hours and we were very glad we did it ! Normally this walk would not have been a problem but we didn't count on the heat even though we started out very early.. because of the hot sun, the end was quite... More

We stayed in Oia so we did the walk from Oia to Fira which we heard took up to three hours. I highly recommend to go as early as possible in the morning to beat the heat. We left right at 8am and made it in 2 ½ hours to Fira. Depending how often you stop for breaks, it will... More

Really worth doing. We actually did it the other way around Oia to Fira. The views are stunning. It is a bit of a trek if you are not used to it, but worth it and we felt we had a achieved something at the end of our trek. It took us 3 hours and it was very, very hot.... More

we chose to walk from Oia to Fira, because we Walter "good fest and legs" to explore Oia. What we had not thought about was the fact, that Oia lies lower than Fira, so in-sted of walkie-talkie downhill we had to Walk uphill, which was very hard. The views were just as stunning, I imagine.
