We made a cruise stop at Santorini early May 2012, and were lucky because there were only two ships anchored, two more arrived at a later time, therefore there was minimal wait time to board the tram/cable car going upwards (less than 5 minutes), and no wait time coming down. The cost is 6 Euro/one way. The ride took just... More

We looked at the alternative to the tram, a donkey, and decided the tram ride was for us (4E one-way). It is a quick 3 minute ride with beautiful views of the sea and islands. The line at the end of the day to go back down was long so be sure to leave enough time. More

The quick way to get to/from the top of the caldera is the tram. It runs constantly, and delivers passengers in about 5-6 minutes. It runs so frequently, that there are only short delays during peak hours. It beats the alternatives, walking or riding the poor donkeys up the side of the mountain. More

The tram is definitely the best way to get to the top fast and enjoy the spectacular reviews. traveled to Santorini August 2006 on a Med cruise. You can hike, take a mule or take the tram. We opted for the tram since we had limited time and wanted to experience as much as we could. We did!!! More

This easy way up gives you the opprtunity to see the great views. the town itself is very commercial but fun to see. You must walk down the 588 steps down but you'll have the time to enjoy th scenery - you 'll encounter the many donkeys that bring up the tourists to the mountain top. More

If you are one of the many people that visit Santorini via cruise ship then you will arrive at the dock and want to get to the top of the hill (mountain) where all the action is. This tram is the easiest and quickest way to get to the town of Fira at the top. A great view from the... More

You really have 3 options from getting from the port to the top or vice a versa - donkey, tram, or walk. It is the same price 5 euros for either the donkey or the tram. We did not arrive on a cruise ship so we took the tram down and took the donkey ride up. Not like we needed... More

For only EU4 you will save time, especially if you are going on a cruise and have only 1 day to see everything. We walked from Thira to Firostefani, then we took a taxi, approx. EU20 to Oia We got there around 11am, great weather, perfect picture day. Walked around the town but it gets to a point when literally... More

Plan ahead! The best way to get to the top & down again. Be sure to plan when you're going up and down because lines will form when there are several ships in port. More
