The Monastery was nice to look at but probably not even worth the small entrance fee. No info whatsoever was provided and I wouldn't really bother to go back next time.

This place was absolutely beautiful inside. The front alter area is completely covered in intricate frescos and gold. You would never guess from the outside! There are also several places to eat and touristy shops in the immediate area.

At 8 km southeast of Chora there is a small village called Ano Mera: there is the Monastery of Panagia Tourlani, founded in 1542. In it, the church that contains a high bell tower made in marble carvings shows beautiful images and religious symbols. Its massive baroque iconostasis (the altar screen), made in 1775 by Florentine artists, has small icons... More

Not among the beautiful spots of the island. Anyway it's ok to rest from the beach for a short while

We hired a taxi driver to take us around to this site and also to a couple of beaches. Took an hour and cost us a total of 50 euros---well worth it, especially after reading some reviews that said the local bus system back to Mykonos Town was unreliable. The driver also knew how to enter and get the nun... More

This monastery and small Greek Orthodox Church are located in the very small village of Ano Mera. This is a typical small Orthodox Church with nothing out of the ordinary. The monastery itself has 1 Monk and is very small and there is nothing to see but the church. The village is also small. It is all ordinary and worth... More

We stopped here on a island tour of Mykonos. It was a quaint building with surprising artiwork inside the church. I would recommend a visit when on Mykonos.

The monastery itself, well at least the chapel, is well maintained and contains all of the reasons I love visiting small churches throughout Europe. The artworks and artefacts are wonderful, I could always spend more time examining in detail these wonderful insights into another time. How much time do you need, I could have easily spent an hour but the... More

The monastery came highly recommended by my hotel staff and pretty much every guide book I read. Honestly, I wish I had skipped it. I had more than 3 hours to wait for the next bus out of Ano Mera and the church takes about 30 minutes to visit, max. Ano Mera itself is tiny and uninteresting. I ended up... More
