Nice beach

Nice beach with easy access and nearby facilities. We went there as a family and we could play with our infant without feeling any danger.

A long sandy beach with lots of tourists and many places to eat and drink aftr swimming. If it is windy, then it becomes really difficult to enjoy the sea. The place swarms with hotels, most of them are relatively old but pretty ok

Nice clean sand and very quiet outside the Atlantica Akti Zeus hotel. Good for beach volleyball and sea is incredibly clear!

Ammoudara beach plays host to a professionally run watersports company (Kreta surf). For my 50th birthday I choose jetskiing on a Yamaha 1100 machine to speed on the crystal clear waters around this coast. The sand is clean and gently shelving for children. It is also served by lifeguards and has plenty of loungers. Plenty of hotels and apartments border... More

Great beach, proper sand as compared to some others in Crete and some good cafes. Went in Sept/Oct and most other people were locals, very relaxed people and families. Had an excellent, deep massage from Chinese therapist who is there most days at a reasonable price. Worth bringing a snorkel to see the pretty little fish. Fish do nibble your... More

This nice sandy beach is very close to Heraklion. The beach is quite long and can be rather full in the summer, so it is advisable to stay near to the end of the beach.

if you don’t want to feel like a rover between happy motionless sunbathing hotel guests, go closer to the airport: where are enough space for unorganized travelers.

The beach can become quite crowded during summer and the view toward West is spoiled by a large energy plant. However, taverna Kostas at the western end is a good option for food and for relaxing - the area is also less frequented. One could park the car in the back and walk over to the sandy beach.

While a great strip of beach, the nearby smell of sewage detracts from the experience. Yet if you sit far away you'll enjoy a beautiful long strip of beach which provides ample seating area though a very limited choice of restaurants.

Absolutely lovely beach, we walked for miles in both directions, the sea was lovely and warm with large waves. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrella's along the way, cost for 2 beds and umbrella is 5 Euro. We used to walk after lunch.
