Belonging to a large European family of aquariums, the Cretaquarium offers its visitors the unique chance to plunge into the great marine world of the Mediterranean. From the big hunter sharks to the tiny seahorses, the sensational jellyfish, the diversity of marine life is set off against underwater Cretan seascapes such as the rock formations at Matala( South Crete)and the sea bed at Vai(North East Crete). « less

It has been closed for 7 years, but recently opened again. Huge collection of ancient things found at Knossos and other places. A good round-up for Knossos (10 € combo) and tben you are really done for the day.

You walk around in a dark hallway, lighted up by tank and tank of small and big fishes, everything from octopuses to sharks and fishes from every corner of the world. One of the better ones I`ve been to. So don`t hesitate. Just do it.

A modern, nicely set up aquarium with lots of things to see. Great for kids and adults. We've spent about two hours there. I really liked it, as I have never been to an aquarium this big and modern before. There are some animals which are in less than perfect health, which I felt, was terrible. I also spotted one... COSTS 9 EUROS Each, but well worth a visit. Large well lit tanks with over 2000 fish, sharks, octopus and crusteans. It is air conditioned and has wheelchair and pushchair access. Gift shop, cafe and toilets at the entrance.

I loved the animals the aquarium featured. The overall layout was one big loop. You enter one way and come out the other. I like this set up. It ensures you don't miss anything! The gift shop has an excellent selection! I wish I had more time to browse.

Very interesting and exciting place highly recommended for people visiting this island and want to see something new and grand. The whole place is quite spacious and very well organized.
