My wife and I spent an hour snorkeling to the north and south of the narrowest part of the causeway to Kalydon, where the underwater ruins of Olos are supposed to be (we thought south from local instructions, but checked North to be sure). We found nothing definitive, even after asking the locals for directions. The closest we got to... More

The mosaic is behind the little cafe near the church it is fenced off only in black and white stone and a lot missing, but worth a visit

We walked from Elounda to see the sunken city - and it was just about visible. But there is little or no tourist information and directions. We never found the mosaic floor! Shame.

It's a very relaxing place. You can view the mosaic floor but that's all but it doesn't matter really as the coastal views and old windmill remains make up for that. You can just about make out some old walls under the sea but snorkeling would have been difficult with the strong winds. A pleasant and relaxing spot if you're... More

Not much to see of the sunken city if you are walking - need to snorkel. The views from the causeway are lovely. Make sure you find the mosaic just on the left after the shop - across the farmer's land (rather rocky), before the small church.

Peaceful, lovely views on quiet evening walk. Lovely promenade by the salt lakes watching children fish. Watching the white herons ...lovely!

The causeway area is another spectacular place for different views, I feel the sunken city of Olous could be more of an attraction - it could be a hidden gem although there's not a lot to see.

Snorkeling in the crystal clean water of the Elounda bay and having the chance to see a few ruins of the Olous city under water, is an experience you can never forget.

My wife and I walked out from Elounda to "see" the lost city. Told that you could see it if you walked pastit. Rubbish, the only way it can be seen if you scuba - and that was not going to happen. More "interesting" stories!

Guide books mention mosaics etc. Sorry but not here, you can make out the walls and floors of rooms but little else. Nice to snorkel but again another tourist trap not worth a long journey.
