Nearly 20 hectares of land are waiting to welcome you, full of fruit trees from all over the world, herbs, medicinal and ornamental plants in a park different from others, where the land’s formation and the region’s microclimate make it a paradise for hundreds of plants and animals! In the midst of this colorful and vivid landscape stands a burnt centennial olive tree, a memorial and a reference to the dismal fires of 2003, the park’s history and origin. The newest and one of the most interesting sites of the Prefecture of Chania lies only 18 kilometers outside the city, on the feet of the White Mountains. It is ideal for visitors of all ages, combining enjoyments that only Crete can offer! « less

I have been to many botanical gardens and this one is great!!!!! It is a bit of a hike. We did wear flip flops and did it ok, but if you are not a hiker, wear good shoes. 5 eruos each and on a hot summer day they gave away a water bottle per person and orange slices. Beautiful hike... More

This place is lovely - a lot of effort has been put into everything by the staff. From the building itself, which is big and new and clean and kept well. Also the labelling of the various plants. Food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff were really welcoming and helpful. All for 6 euros per person - I... More

This is a unique park to experience. It's a cook's dream back yard. The small touches are memorable (old iron pots and tins as decoration, braids of rope hanging from trees, peacocks!) The owners are personable and obviously have aesthetics in mind. Do try the food in the restaurant, because that's really what it's all about - organic, homegrown, delicious... More

gorgeous drive to the park! absolutely perfect & peaceful "hike" through beautiful hillside plants. Sun hats & walking sticks provided. We (adults, 7 & 9 year olds) loved every minute of this place. the restaurant served the very best, freshest, & healthiest meal we had in 10 days of Greece. Please patronize the amazing conservation work that the fantastic staff... More

Because we wren't told the Cretan night we booked was at the Botanic Gardens we got a taxi up there one day (28 Euros each way!!) and did the visit etc. Excellent place and enjoyed the walk round (2.5 hours)' However, the best way is to take the Cretan evening and you get there with a good 1.5 hours before... Based on reviews we drove up on our second day in Crete. My family (boy 7 girl 13) and wife. Lovely drive from Chania and wonderful park. Well worth a coiuple of hours. We wore sandals which i would not reccomend though it was not an issue. The flora and fauna are spectacular! The restaurant is perfect after a good... More

We visited the Botanical Park early on a very hot day. From our first moment at the ticket office, we realised how helpful and friendly the staff were. We were provided with a very cold bottle of water each [complimentary] and offered hats and walking sticks. There are 2 routes through the park - we took the longer one of... More

Just a short drive from the city (along the road to Omalos). Built on the site of an olive and citrus plantation decimated by a fire some years ago. Many specimens from all over the world, set out beside a 2km winding path. Probably best done in the relative cool of a morning rather than at midday!
