Description: CRETE…A SMALL CONTINENT Walking in the Botanical park & Gardens of Crete...
CRETE…A SMALL CONTINENT Walking in the Botanical park & Gardens of Crete offes spiritual tranquility and visual pleasure in addition to knowledge on plants and their material . Nearly 20 hectares of land are waiting to welcome you, full of fruit trees from all over the world, herbs, medicinal and ornamental plants in a park different from others, where the land’s formation and the region’s microclimate make it a paradise for hundreds of plants and animals! In the midst of this colorful and vivid landscape stands a burnt centennial olive tree, a memorial and a reference to the dismal fires of 2003, the park’s history and origin. The newest and one of the most interesting sites of the Prefecture of Chania lies only 18 kilometers outside the city, on the feet of the White Mountains. It is ideal for visitors of all ages, combining enjoyments that only Crete can offer!

I visited the Botanical Park as an afternoon/evening excursion with a meal and evening dance and fold music performance. All were excellent. elcomed by friendly staff offering a glass of freshly-pressed orange juice and an optional bottle of water to take as one set off to walk round the botanical gardens. The park itself is beautifully done; well-laid out, full... More

This is a nice way to spend a couple of hours. Easy to find. - follow TA address on google maps. We were greeted by a lovely lady who offered us some fresh fruit - orange and cherries. She explained that the cost is 6 euro per adult, and there is an option for a long or short route. The... More

On arrival you by a ticket for 6 euros and receive a bottle of water and a walking stick for free. The walk is uphill and down dale but worth it for the wonderful experience. Afterwards enjoy a gourmet meal in The Olive Tree Restaurant! and then buy a souvenir book or potof honey in the shop...

Went in May 2015. You can get there with a direct but from the Paphos station (about 10 Km away form the city). The location is just beautiful. The ticket costs just 6 Eu (and includes a bottle of water and slices of orange :) ). During the walk in the park you will enjoy a charming atmosphere. After the... More

We saw lots of plants and trees we had never seen before well labelled. The restaurant was wonderful with good service and interesting unusual food. We arrived at 10.00 and left at 2.00.

Its a botanical garden/orange orchard that takes around 1-2h of slow walk. It's great for relaxation and there is plenty of intresting plants and a mini zoo by the lake. Student entery was 4€ (normal is 6€) and you get a small bottle of water and a walking stick, hat or an unburela if you want to borrow it. I... More

We visited the Botanical Park of Crete early in May so it was very early in the season and this was why we have scored it "Average" as opposed to "Very Good". It wasn't the parks fault that everything wasn't in bloom. We did the hike through the park. We were very happy that they had a container with walking... More

We were doubtful about directions initially but got there eventually to a friendly welcome, a bottle of water each and the loan of a stick- very helpful on the steep paths. If we and been earlier or had more time, we would have reached the bottom and found the lake and those elusive peacocks, but as it was we still... More

We decided to visit the Botanical Park as a way to spend a day in Chania. Not knowing what to expect we drove up through the mountains admiring the amazing views. The views here were my favourite of our trip to Chania after the Samaria Gorge. We paid €6 entrance fee and were greeted by a very friendly girl who... More

We had a great visit here having spotted it at the side of the road. Staff are great and have the trip sorted (at least for Brits!). €6 per adult, bottle of water supplied, lavatory pointed out, hats and sticks offered. The gardens are very pleasant indeed, not perfect like a park but well kept and litter free. Great to... More
