Nearly 20 hectares of land are waiting to welcome you, full of fruit trees from all over the world, herbs, medicinal and ornamental plants in a park different from others, where the land’s formation and the region’s microclimate make it a paradise for hundreds of plants and animals! In the midst of this colorful and vivid landscape stands a burnt centennial olive tree, a memorial and a reference to the dismal fires of 2003, the park’s history and origin. The newest and one of the most interesting sites of the Prefecture of Chania lies only 18 kilometers outside the city, on the feet of the White Mountains. It is ideal for visitors of all ages, combining enjoyments that only Crete can offer! « less

A beautiful walk but make sure you got the right shoes. A long walk down to the lake then back up. Not recommended if you have breathing and / or walking difficulties. Otherwise a must do

During our recent stay in Chania we took a local bus leaving from the Main bus station (9.30 am) to the Botanical Park which is up in the foot hills and in a beautiful and peaceful location. The walk through the winding paths up and down the slopes takes about two hours. There are hundreds of plants, shrubs, trees and... More

A very nice walk with many trees and shrubs to look at, all in very good order on well-maintained paths (ups and downs, of course, but average fitness is plenty enough). Lovely settings altogether, I really do feel that this is a must-see for anyone who fancies a leisurely walk with nice views close-up and afar. The restaurant at the... More

I had a lovely 1/2 day here with my husband walking around the garden. I was expecting an open plan garden but in fact it is a winding circuit path - apparently some people find the slopes difficult - I had tendinitis in one of my knees and I was ok though. It is possible to lend walking poles and... More

The area of the botanical park was largely destroyed by fire a decade or so ago. This happened a lot in Greece, and was often started deliberately. So the fact that the botanical park has got itself up and running is most impressive. We were there on a stormy day, which made more clear the impressive countryside. The botany? Well,... More

If you like plants and fruit from all over the world and are reasonably fit, this makes a good 4/5 hour trip out. Your entrance fee includes a bottle of water and free use of walking sticks, sun hats etc. There is quite a lot of walking up and down hills and steps and the sticks did come in useful... More

An outstanding walk with many plants and fruit to see. Lovely lunch afterwards and the dish included produce grown in the Garden! Superb service I'd love to go back!

I don't think I will ever forget that fruit salad. I visited this gem a few days ago and really enjoyed myself. It was the perfect break from the busy city life of Chania en that glorious beaches of the region. Allow yourself some time to relax and explore this place.

What a wonderful, peaceful place high up in the hills to wander at leisure along the well marked and sign- posted pathways either-side with the most comprehensive collection of flowers, trees, shrubs and herbs must rank as among the finest botanical parks in Europe. Additionally there are some animals, including a docile donkey (pity no mate to keep it company!).The... More
