We started at Syntagma terminal and proceeded to the parliament building for the changing of the guards. Then, we went on to the National Gardens and Zappeion. Afterwards, we walked to Zues' Temple and Hadrian's Arch. Then we walked past the new Acropolis Museum to the Acropolis of Athens. At the top, we got an overview of the different sights... more

While the tour started out informatively, about half way through the tour I was wondering when it would end. Given the richness of Greek history, I was disappointed that our guide was not able to convey more of this history to us in an interesting and engaging fashion. When a guide spends my paid time "guilt tripping" me into not... more

Last week we had an international meeting in Athens, and usually you only see airports, hotels and meetings rooms, but nothing of the city you are meeting in. Therefore I booked "Athens Walking Tours", had nice telephone conversations with Despina, who did great in organizing our group of 20 people and advising us where to go best and what we... more

our walk through the Acropolis was brought to life by an enthusiastic Greek lady who spoke very good English. She marched us through thousands of years of history and gave us an excellent perspective of life "back then"..very enjoyable, i would recommend this experience to everyone coming to Athens..don't leave Athens without an Athens Walking Tour !! Meeting the tour at the Syntagma station was easy, our guide was very informative and we felt the tour was worth every penny. The walking pace was just fine with plenty of informative stops along the way. more

Good tour!! a lot of walking but if you're up for it, it's nice to be outside. Knowledgeable tour guides, good pace, appropriate attractions. It's great to get the low down on the story behind the acropolis rather than just taking a look. more

This was the best walking tour of many we have been on around the world. Despina handled the logistics flawlessly and Georgia, the guide, was tremendous! Her knowledge of the different sights, areas, and antiquities of Athens was unsurpassed. Her background in Greek history with a touch of social responsibility, was refreshing. She not only is a guide, she also... more

We enjoyed this 3hr walk very much as it took us through the Plaka District, a must-do in Athens. Recommended. Perhaps a little too much time spent in Syntagma Sq museum where it was hard to hear commentary due to trains. Bring your camera and comfortable walking shoes. more

After reading all the great reviews, we were totally disappointed . We wasted 30 minutes in a train station so that Despina could show us the changing of the guard which we could have seen on our own. The balance of the tour was walking to the acropolis with virtually nothing to see onroute, and a boring talk at acropolis.... more

Dear guests, The Athens walking tours has been rated #1 attraction on this site because all our guides are licensed, experienced, carefully selected for their education but mostly for their love and passion for their work. On the other hand, the criteria designing the programs of our tours are based: a) on the long experience of our guides (e.g. Despina...
