Our tour guide, Artemis, was an awesome guide of local food in Athens. We learned the origin of some foods and what was Greek, what was accepted as Greek, and what wasn't Greek. We tried foods that we would of never found on our own. A great way to see some of the local sites in Athens while still staying... More

My daughters (both in their 20's) and my sister and I (both in our 50's) went on this food tour and we all LOVED it. Our guide was Dorina and she was so incredibly knowledgable. She's a licensed guide so she didn't just know about food, she was educated in all aspects of Athens and Greek culture. She was colorful... More

If you're in Athens, Greece and don't take time to learn something about the local cuisine, you're missing out on a great experience. On a recent cruise in the Mediterranean, we had a day to spend in Athens, and decided to spend the morning sampling a variety of Greek cuisine, so we signed up with the Athens Food Tour. Our... Perfect way to begin our visit in Athens Greece. Our enthusiastic tour guide walked us through the streets of Athens and brought us to markets, shops, and restaurants to have us experience Athens from a local's perspective. We went to a Greek bakery, tried food from a street vendor, went to the fish market, had fresh figs from a fruit... More

Our guide was very well informed, passionate about Athens and its food and gave a good background and context to what we were seeing and eating. A full range of items was tried from street food, through cafes and delicatessens to specialist food shops and markets, things you would probably never find if you were walking round on your own.... I took an "Athens Walking Tour" with our guide Doreen. Doreen did a great job. She explained to us what were tasting within the context of how the average Athenian live their lives in the modern metropolis of Athens. Doreen seems to be really in tune with modern Athens. We tried many street food, Cretian deli, Greek donut shop, Athens... More

The tour was interesting and the food was delicious. It greatly enhanced our Athens experience. We visited a wide array of shops and markets and finished in a beautiful old restaurant. We particularly appreciated the map with the places marked because we revisited some to do our food shopping later. We thank our guide, Darina, for doing the tour on... More

We did a food tour in Prague back in October and this will be my reference for this review (http://www.eatingpraguetours.com/prague-food-tour/). Starting with the Prague's company website, you have a pretty good idea of where you are going, what you are going to taste and what the best restaurants in town are - and mind you, you end the tour with... Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
